David Fidler | 7 comments I dare say we are into the second week so here goes, although perhaps we should list this by the month.

I have just finished "Dumbing Us Down" by John Gatto. Excellent book and very educational.

Celeste Batchelor (celestebatchelor) | 27 comments I am about to finish editing a book that my daughter wrote called "47 Flowers"! So, not an official book I can put on here, but it is still a book.

She did a great job. I hope she submits this one to publishers.

One of my favorites! I think every one should read that one for sure.

message 4: by Ellen (new)

Ellen Hey | 2 comments Just finished -- The House Girl by Tara Conklin -- a book that toggles between today and a time before the Civil War -- the story of slavery.

message 5: by Shannon (last edited Jan 19, 2014 09:22AM) (new)

Shannon | 12 comments Finished Red Scarf Girl with the Boys and reading Remains of the Day

message 6: by Rachelle (new)

Rachelle | 10 comments I finished Little Britches, Basic Economics by Thomas Sowell, and The Creature from Jekyll Island by G. Edward Griffin. The last two were audio books and I feel like I would have gotten more out of them if I'd physically read them, but I still got a ton from them. There's a few books I'm reading and I've got to go to the library today (books on hold and some I want to renew). Last night, I was looking for some books I've started and couldn't find Ender's Game. Hope it turns up soon.

message 7: by Shiloah (new)

Shiloah (pinkginghamom) I read Beverly Gray's assignment. Light reading while we're moving.

message 8: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (libermama) | 3 comments I finished "Up from Slavery" and it was EXCELLENT! Definitely a classic. Booker T. Washington is an inspiration to me. He was a great leader and true "statesman."

I'm halfway through "Eats, Shoots, and Leaves." It's so funny; just the thing for this
punctuation junkie. :-)

message 9: by Sara (new)

Sara (homeschoolsara) I finished up "Search for the Shadow Dragons" and think that it is my favorite of the series so far. I have "Anne's House of Dreams" languishing on my end table and I skipped right over it to start "Out of Silent Planet". I am trying to adhere to my Compass so that I don't flit about too much but I sort of wish that I had not listed the Anne books... I do not love them as much as I had hoped that I would.

message 10: by David (new)

David Fidler | 7 comments Chalk up one more for me: "Rascal" by Chris Brady. Great book.

message 11: by Sara (new)

Sara (homeschoolsara) Finished up "A House United" today. Glad to have it all read and simmering in the back of my mind. Absolutely a parenting classic.

message 12: by Shiloah (new)

Shiloah (pinkginghamom) I'd like to update my post to the following total books read:
Beverly Gray's Assignment
Habits of Happy Kids by Sean Covey
The Rithmatist by Sanderson
Dear Enemy by Jean Webster
Turkey Walk by Karr

message 13: by Stharris (new)

Stharris | 5 comments I finished The Four Doors

Great fast read. Uplifting and inspiring. Nice book to discuss with youth.
