I really enjoyed both the first and second book.
It's not super heavy on the romance and I felt like there was a lot of sexual tension which drove me crazy in a good way lol

Adriana | 23 comments finally finished Whispers in Autumn (The Last Year, #1) by Trisha Leigh which I thought was good but was a little tired of reading series, so (thanks to a much needed Spring Break) I read Ugly Stick by Joy Givens , Chasing Xaris by Samantha Bennett , and The Alpha Bet by Stephanie Hale . Skimmed through Exhale by Jennifer Snyder and started Thin White Line (Badboy Rockers, #1) by J.A. Templeton ...

Also read (despite being series) The Exalted One (The Exalted Series) by C.E. O'Dea and KISSED by Carla Krae

Take that reading challenge!

Danielle (Danniegurl) (danniesreads) | 1326 comments I finished The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires (Half Moon Hollow, #1) by Molly Harper it was pretty interesting, but in some ways they made it seem like the romance was the main focus at least after the main plot was finished, and they didn't really express the romance too much or often enough for me. Overall though a good book.

♥ Rebecca ♥ | 1653 comments Reading two high fantasy right now. The Siren Depths (Books of the Raksura, #3) by Martha Wells , which is the third in the series and has extremely minimal romance, but it was there. Until this book, when I realized they have an open-relationship and it has ruined everything for me.

And The Eye of the World (Wheel of Time, #1) by Robert Jordan . I am not very far in but loving it so far.

I definitely recommend Covenant Series and Lux series by Jennifer Armentrout, both lots of action and character development beyond the MC love story. Also, a less-known but I think comparable series is Darkness of Light (Darkness, #1) by Stacey Marie Brown . Love the characters and plenty of plot to dive into!

I just finished East of Ecstasy (Hearts of the Anemoi, #4) by Laura Kaye and wow was this way better than I expected! Micah (sinvega) | 76 comments So people recommended i check out Half-Blood (Covenant, #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout
I'll admit i have been curious to read it but ehh I am unsure. I hear it is similar to Vampire academy(except change out vampires with half bloods or whatever xD) and i literally can't stand VA...Rose makes me sick and i wished bad things on her as I read it xD

Are there good male characters who are there to be more than a love interest? :)

Have you tried Heaven by Christoph Marzi or The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini Eragon, Eldest & Brisingr (Inheritance, #1-3) by Christopher Paolini ? Not really YA but I also really liked The Sword of Truth Series by Terry Goodkind Wizard's First Rule (Sword of Truth, #1) by Terry Goodkind . Though they are more fantasy thn sci-fi.

I didn't read VA so I have no idea if it's similar but I absolutely love this series. Yes, there is romance and it's told from a female POV. But she is kick butt. There are tons of great characters that you get to know in depth. It's so much more than the romance. It's really a book about fighting for freedom and overcoming people who want to take control. I was lucky enough to get ARCs of the last three books and I was so excited to read them. There is a spin off series The Return (Titan, #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout that is going to be released in February 2015 from one of the main characters that you love to hate. It will be male POV, which is super exciting, as well.

Here are some good Male POV books that arent too romance heavy.
The Lost Prince (The Iron Fey Call of the Forgotten, #1) by Julie Kagawa Anna Dressed in Blood (Anna, #1) by Kendare Blake The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking, #1) by Patrick Ness The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #1) by Rick Riordan Charming (Pax Arcana, #1) by Elliott James The Vicious Deep (The Vicious Deep #1) by Zoraida Córdova

There is also this list that may help, but it has a lot of romance and adult books on it too.

I haven't read VA either but I did hear about the similarities. Alex, the female MC in Halfblood is definitely kickass like Brooke said. There are some really strong guy non-love interests in it too. They get even stronger as the series goes on. Another bonus, they are all out so you don't have to wait for any books to finish the series :)

One of the reviewers for half blood did a major comparison to VA it sounded like the story recycles and later I hear it TRIES to change. I can't read it because I read VA. However I did like rose, sort of. She was a bit selfish and stung mason and Adrian along....but I haven't read it, but from some of the reviews it sounds like a carbon copy.

Danielle (Danniegurl) (danniesreads) | 1326 comments So I finished First Bitten (Alexandra Jones, #1) by Samantha Towle and omg I was NOT expecting it to be soooooo emotional!!! That threw me for a loop. I literally found myself wondering why the MC wouldn't just off her self with how crappy everything was going on. I mean no I don't think anyone should do that irl however I thought of it as an apt solution to her grief. I rated it 3 stars but I'm not sure if it should be higher or not. I do plan to check it out, she didn't give up and lay down, for the most part but geez tons of emotion.
