Teresa | 606 comments Thanks, Ash.
I started The Iron Witch (The Iron Witch, #1) by Karen Mahoney today. Not sure yet whether or not I like it. I'm going to read The Shadow Throne (The Ascendance Trilogy, #3) by Jennifer A. Nielsen when I'm done with it.

Finished The Girlfriend Request by Jodie Andrefski . Good concept, not so good execution.

Laura (llbasaldua) | 790 comments Me Before You (Me Before You, #1) by Jojo Moyes See Me by Nicholas Sparks and The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins The Husband's Secret by Liane Moriarty Obviously Me before You is a bit more heavy on the romance side.

message 23711: by MadameZelda (new)

MadameZelda Just finished Descent (Hidden Wings, #0.5) by Cameo Renae . The spelling errors killed it for me. So 3 stars.

message 23712: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1075 comments I finished The Girl Who Never Was (Otherworld, #1) by Skylar Dorset 4 stars.
I love fairy stories in general, and I just loved this one! This was a nice, quick, fun read. It reminded me a bit of the Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa. Very strange world within our own, and very interesting characters!

Next I'm reading Manners & Mutiny (Finishing School, #4) by Gail Carriger

I agree! I finished by monthly challenges earlier than expected, and I am getting on to the series I have a pile of to complete!

MadameZelda I agree with you, Paula. Some books tax me emotionally. Then I need a break, usually meaning a humorous chick lit or some other genre.

Ugh, I know. For a second I thought something was wrong with my computer.

So I gave up on The Iron Witch (The Iron Witch, #1) by Karen Mahoney . It wasn't bad, just too much of what I've already read and The Shadow Throne (The Ascendance Trilogy, #3) by Jennifer A. Nielsen kept calling to me which I just borrowed from the library.

Oh I loved that series but never finished The Shadow Throne! I fell asleep listening to it on the way home from London last year and then just never got back to it for some reason! Thanks for the reminder, I'll definitely have to give it another go!

About 50% thought my sample of Truthwitch (The Witchlands, #1) by Susan Dennard . It's not bad but not FANTASTIC like everyone is making it out to be. It's definitely picked up. But I'm still not sure where it's going. Since it's only a sample, I can't imagine I will get much more in the next 50%. The names are hard to pronounce (I hope she did a key in the beginning of the actual book). Also reading Shade Me by Jennifer Brown but only two chapters in so far so I don't have too much of an opinion.

I was going to ask what the latest craze was on here so I could really get into something again, looks like The Land of the Beautiful Dead by R. Lee Smith is the winner! =)

If you all get a sec and it looks like something you'd want to read, please add DEEP (DEEP #1) by Jaine Diamond to your "want to read" lists. Jaine is a new author and this was such a cool read that I really enjoyed, so I'd love for her to get some more attention for her first release. And if you're in the mood for something really unique and sexy, this one got me out of my book funk so give it a go! TIA!

Same here! lol I'm giving Roxy's story a go just because her odd behavior around Reese had me curious, but it didn't get rave reviews either. I'll cut myself off there if I don't like it, I don't want to end up disliking her work in general!

That's a bummer, what was your goal? I changed mine twice this year as I realized I was WAY far off, and then just not quite there. Probably cheating a bit because a goal is a goal, but I couldn't bring myself to miss by that much! =)
