Got to see Mockingjay Part 2 with my oldest this weekend. Couldn't help thinking back to when I first read this series and how it sparked my love of dystopians with our group's "Dystopian Reads" month years ago. I miss those days, when I had the time to chat for hours on here with such cool reading friends!! I'm so grateful that this group is going strong though, it's still the best on GR!! =)

I wrapped up a book that was great for my reading rut last week, Deep (Deep #1) by Jaine Diamond was perfectly dirty and different and a bit twisted...had me glued! Think military spacecraft storyline with a BDSM twist, I loved it.

Reading Whipped (Wild Riders #2) by Elizabeth Lee now, still enjoying this series of course since it's my girl Lee.

Ashlee | 309 comments Started Sweet Ruin (Immortals After Dark, #15) by Kresley Cole - about halfway through - it's o-kkkaaaayyyy .... I mean it's KC so of course it's going to be good, but compared to the rest of IAD it's firmly 3 stars so far. I was worried before I even started about the fact the MCs are people we've never heard of before, and yeah they're just not clicking for me...it's also missing a lot of the humour and adventure I've loved so much in this series...

BUT I am only halfway through, hopefully it will pick up!!

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1075 comments I finished Six of Crows (Six of Crows, #1) by Leigh Bardugo LOVED this fantasy! I thought it was ten times better than the Grisha trilogy, which I did like, but this had so much more depth, AMAZING characters, and fantastic world building! This is one of my most favorite fantasies! Just as good as Throne of Glass, IMO! 5 epic stars!

I am just about to start Sweet Ruin right now! A lot of people didnt like the last few books because the characters are not front line characters but I knew that was going to be happening when she finished Lothaire and decided to write on his Family/their mates So I wasnt surprised by it and I am yet to find any of her books that I didnt like so far all of the IAD have all been 5 stars from me!

Yep solid 5 for me as well - I actually really loved the last few books! I have no problem with KC moving away from 'frontline' characters, there are only so many Valkyrie and Wroth brothers out there, but there are still SO MANY awesome minor characters we've crossed paths with that deserve their own story (I'm sure their time will come but damn it, I'm impatient!)

But honestly, it's not so much that we haven't met these characters before - as I said, it just seems to be missing that element of adventure that I've come to expect in IAD - I still have half the book to read, though, so I'm sure it will pick up :)

I'm about 25% through and so far I'm loving it. I think Jo is hilarious!! Rune is freaking funny too. I've read KCs blog re: why she wrote this book and get it - so she could introduce new characters that are pivotal to the rest of the overall story. Without them, I feel as though the series would stall out.

For me it hasn't been that she's moving away from frontline characters.

It's been more issues with the stories being so overly formulaic and that the women having been getting trampled on. I miss it when the ladies gave as hard as the got.

Finished Crown of Midnight (Throne of Glass, #2) by Sarah J. Maas and am exhausted. That BOOK! Very good, but damn, the feelz.

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1075 comments So I've started Life and Death Twilight Reimagined by Stephenie Meyer and I'm about 50 pages in. So far its EXACTLY the same as Twilight, almost word for word, except all the names and genders have changed. Which just confuses me. I'm going to try to stick with it, mostly because of curiosity, but I'm feeling like DNF right now. Unless something dramatic changes, I'm kind of feeling like this was a big rip off by the author.

I also started a biography Virginia Woolf by Nigel Nicolson which is really good so far. I know almost nothing about this writer, and I haven't read any of her books, but I want to, and I do like to know more about the writer when reading :)

Yeah I understand that too but its KC I just cant complain ... I just cant Im just seriously such a fan girl when it comes to her & a new book that I just cant complain. LOL
Now had she made some crucial mess up in the series plot line (which Im totally starting to get now) then I would complain but I think she has done a dang good job considering this is book #15 and still make me as giddy as the first books of hers I read did. Ok maybe not that good but very very close :) And she has kept the story going little things/ big things unfold and keep the story going. I wish I could say that about other Authors but I surely know I cant.

It is the exact same book with slight changes. She just wanted to do a "gender bent" - which it really isnt - story because of how Fans complained Bella was such a wimpy whiny bumbling idiot! So she wanted to do it with the guy being that way ... Blah boring and seriously wrong! Just another way to make Money especially with the ebook at $12 and also the Hardcover is $16 seriously!! Hrmm I guess I never felt that way about any of her books. Its one of the reasons I love the series so much, the Women are as tough or tougher than their men and dont need them to keep them safe. and they are flippin hilarious! Then Im going to finish up The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins It took me a bit to get into this one but after about 15% of the Audio I was finally able to get past it (after THREE tries) and get into the story.

then Me Before You (Me Before You, #1) by Jojo Moyes is on board after that.

Then I am going into hibernation until Feverborn (Fever, #8) by Karen Marie Moning
