I actually enjoyed the Pulse series. It's a bit strange, or maybe just different, but I liked it.

I really liked the first, and I just realized late last night that there was another book before this one that I hadn't read yet! So I'm reading Manwhore +1 (Manwhore, #2) by Katy Evans now then moving onto the Ms. lol

She could have finished the series in 3-5 books easily, the greedy nature of cutting it up to make readers pay for multiple books really bothered me. And I was getting them for free for my reviews!!

Oh yeah I just noticed that it was labeled as a series. It felt very standalone to me. Unless the next one was about a different couple. Maybe one of Grayson's friends. That would be cool.

I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority, but that's okay. The writing's good and the story moved along nicely. It was more of a not for me thing than anything else.

Since I'm a bit ahead in my reviews I'm diving into The Shadow Queen (Ravenspire, #1) by C.J. Redwine before moving on to Ruin and Rising (The Grisha, #3) by Leigh Bardugo .

Love Scarlet!!! It's probably my favourite of the three I think, love Captain Thorn!!

I've set Six of Crows (Six of Crows, #1) by Leigh Bardugo aside for a little while - the narration was just bugging me way too much, I wish they'd gotten Lauren Fortgang to do the whole thing, her chapters are fantastic. Did anyone else feel like Nina's chapter's were cut straight out of ToG? Not just bc of Elizabeth Evans' distinctive voice, but the narrative style for Nina sounded exactly like SJM's writing...(that's not necessarily a bad thing, just really distracting)

Anyway, I just finished The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #1) by Rick Riordan which I loved - I haven't read anything by Rick Riordan before but I like the look of Magnus Chase so I thought I'd test the waters...I think I'll be catching up on all the PJatO and HoO books over the next couple of months!

I have to admit, the fact that PJ is 12 at the start of the series sort of put me off a bit (although considering some of my all time fave series are HP, His Dark Materials and Narnia I probably should have been more open minded) ...I just wanted something really quick and easy, though, and this was perfect. Loved all the Greek mythology stuff as well

YES! I really do want to re-read it. I think I'm in a different place then when I first read it. And since my son will be reading it, I want to read along with him. I need to finish up the Olympians, though. He's so far ahead of me!

Ive put it aside until I can read it. I just cant get into it, I keep zoning off or restarting a chapter I agree about Ninas chapters. I didnt like the narrator for Kaz - he sounded way too old for a 17 year old !! Actually I didnt like any of the male narrators ...
I restarted it 4x this weekend and finally got 5 hours straight of listening before losing it again. So that far to many times Ill give it a try again when I can read it.

Laura (llbasaldua) | 790 comments I started Rush (Breathless, #1) by Maya Banks and woah can you say 50 shades wanna be!! And with that being said I didnt finish it because I just coudnt stand it. I would rather read 50 shades again !! (NO I was not a fan of 50 like most) both books are so laughable and simply unknowledgeable & unrealistic which would have been fine since it is fiction but its EROTICA it shouldnt be making me laugh out loud or roll my eyes. Anyhoo I just couldnt take it I got about to 40 % and DNF.

I get up and put my glasses down and say " I just cant do this anymore! OMG driving me crazy!"
Hubby says "What? Why whats wrong?" I tell him nothing this dang book is worse than 50 Shades! He laughs at me and says "oh I thought something was actually wrong" I give him the finger lol

Oh yeah, the guy who does Kaz is the same guy who does Sam in Shiver and is the main reason I only got about a quarter of the way through that book (plus the story just didn't grab me)...but I actually think Matthias is the worst - could his voice get any deeper?

So annoying...when there's a good narrator I could actually lie in bed listening all night (which is probably not the best habit lol) but when it's crap like this it goes into the 'what to listen to while I'm cleaning the bathroom' selection lol

Huh didnt know that I read Shiver when it just came out and why I love everything Maggie! I know not many liked any of her books other than Raven Boys or Scorpio Races. But Ive really enjoyed all her work.

Matthias Narrator was meh also but I got the feeling he was supposed to be older? I dunno it just seemed like he would be... I actually quit caring about them like all the characters nothing held my interest for them after they would join up with the group or tell their story. It didnt feel like there was anything to them anymore, nothing more to learn or know about them. Yesterday ( 7am here now) I just let it play I didnt stop it just let it play and I got to about 90% I know the story picks up there and things are going good cause it grabbed my attention again so I stopped because I didnt know what was going on ...or how they got to this point so I might just go back a few chapters and finish it up otherwise I dont think Ill ever finish it.
