As for QoS - I was a little disappointed, but only because I had such high hopes. Most of it was really awesome (I still gave it 4 stars) but there was one aspect that I thought SJM, the amazing author that she is, could have handled so much better...I saw someone say that part read like fan fic and that actually is not a bad call in my opinion

it wasn't the actual outcome I had an issue with but the way it happened - it was just a bit abrupt I think, and could have had a better build up ...and tbh, now that aspect, which had the potential to be totally awesome has fallen really flat for me and I have a feeling will just be really boring in the next two books. (I hope I'm being cryptic enough so people don't have it ruined!)

Was it the (view spoiler)[ Chaol issue? I had some problems with the way it was handled, but I still loved it so much I had to overlook it. I also have a lot of hope that SJM will do what the characters need her to do. I really needed him to let Aelin know exactly what happened in the castle and what exactly happened with the "betrayal". But he didn't *sigh* and that really bothered me. She still sees it that way and in reality it's not and I think it would change things immensely. Another of my friends said she thought he was perfect for Celaena but not for Aelin because the two are so different (though we saw much of Celaena in parts of this book for sure). Yet another of my friends said the characters were totally different than the three other books, which I see but I also have to attribute to their growth. (hide spoiler)]

Nah that was something that frustrated me at first but then it all smoothed out and I was just like 'aaaww' - it was the (view spoiler)[romance that I wasn't happy with. It's not that I don't like Rowan or even Rowan/Aelin together but I just found the way they got together was very meh...after taking pains to point out in HoF that they were NOT attracted to each other, all of a sudden they're completely crazy about each other? Where was the build up? It turned a potentially awesome match up into something completely boring and average. A slow burn with lots of build up and tension would have been so much better, even if that meant they didn't actually get together til book 5, the wait would have been worth it. And don't even get me started on Chaol and Nesryn! (hide spoiler)] It definitely won't put me off the series but I expected a lot better from SJM!

But once he took the blood oath, I didn't see how something couldn't happen. I would have liked more build up, though. And yes, Chaol and Nesryn, gah, I don't like it. I still hold on to that belief as their meeting was just as I had predicted. I know Mannon is rough around the edges, but she has a heart that I think surprises her at times. I think it's going to make her and Aelin friends, even if there will always be a battle for power between the two. I especially believe this because Dorian is involved and he is her friend. I completely agree with your assessment of the romance scenarios in QoS Ash. I was kind of like "hmmmm.... not sure how I feel about that....." I mean I love Rowan but like you said ..... hmmmm... dunno. I guess we'll have to wait and see where SJM takes it. Although the hot animosity brewing between Aelin & Chaol is very entertaining and I can't wait until all that pent up chemistry implodes *grinning wickedly* LOL!

I'm glad you at can at least read at all, but I can only imagine how frustrating that can be. Your going to have to do the audio books. I can't afford to do them unless they are selling them for cheap. I can't afford audible so... Good luck with your reading :/

Thanks, Melissa. I'm not going to give up just yet. I just have to live with reading an hour or maybe two at the most instead of hours and hours. My husband used to say I was on vacation when I read. :)
