I started and finished Six Earlier Days (Every Day #0.5) by David Levithan last night. It was very short. I really love how Levithan takes normal every day life situations and makes you "see" them. I'm interested in reading the next installment in this series.
I am still trudging through The Replaced (The Taking, #2) by Kimberly Derting . I suspect I can try to finish it today. It's just not as good as the first book and probably won't get more than a 3 from me. It suffers from second book syndrome.
I will be starting Queen of Tomorrow (Stolen Empire, #2) by Sherry D. Ficklin this weekend. I'm on the blog tour. I'm happy to participate, but I hate that the tour host didn't get the schedule and books out until yesterday. That only gives people 2 weeks to read and review.

Yeah Teresa ACoTaR was rather disappointing for me as well. The writing qualities we love in Maas' books was still apparent but it just dragged horribly. The pacing was torture. EoD however is great so I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I hope you're feeling better sweetie and that your day is a great one :)

message 21038: by Teresa (new)

Teresa | 606 comments Thanks, Belkis. You're sweet.
Brooke and Belkis, you guys both said this book was a little slow but I'm such a Sarah Maas fan that I just had to give it a try. It was slow and I skimmed through parts for sure. It could have done with a good trimming. The other thing I didn't like was how close it was to Beauty and the Beast. I like fairytale retellings but this almost felt like a rip-off rather than a retelling.

I read it. My library had the trilogy all in one back to back, so i'm just reading through them. Kind of like maze runner, the way they talk takes a little adjusting at first, but it's not bad once you get used to them. Im liking the series so far.

I felt the same way you do about both Every Day, such a unique take on everyday situations and possibilities of them being realities, genius really. And I had the same struggles with The Replaced and ended up rating it a 3 as well. The last 15-20% of the book are really good so stick it out :)

If you enjoyed Harry Potter, then this is a story you'll definitely enough. Very entertaining. I'm almost halfway through The Wrong Billionaire's Bed (Billionaire Boys Club, #3) by Jessica Clare just to change gears. Next I plan to jump into The Scarlet Deep (Elemental World #3) by Elizabeth Hunter woohoo a new EH book to savor LOL!

message 21049: by Ashlee (new)

Ashlee | 309 comments Read Who Buries the Dead (Sebastian St. Cyr #10) by C.S. Harris - another fantastic St Cyr book! Was still in a bit of a mystery mood so moved on to the Lady Julia series....found it a bit meh - history was bland, characters (especially heroine) were annoying and mystery was predictable (I had it figured out about a third of the way in)

If anyone knows any good histoical mysteries let me know...have read all of Rhys Bowen's stuff as well as Lady Emily, Midwife Mysteries, Portia Adams...umm can't think of others right now

I like ones that have a) really interesting historical detail and b) hard to pick whodunit ...preferably a bit of romance also
