Sophie | 22 comments I've just finished End of Days which I really, really enjoyed. I love, love, love Penryn and Raffe! So sad that the series has ended now :(

I've now started American Gods by Neil Gaiman. It's the first time I've read anything of his and am enjoying it so far. I find myself really liking the main character, Shadow.

End of Days (Penryn & the End of Days, #3) by Susan Ee American Gods (American Gods, #1) by Neil Gaiman

Yep gave it 2 stars. I think I'm just not an Abbi Glines fan? I didn't like The Vincent Boys, DNF'd it actually.

Finished Until Friday Night (The Field Party, #1) by Abbi Glines . Had to push myself through it. So much angst and just unrealistic things that happened. I gave it a 2. I think I'm done with this author who everyone loves. Not for me. I am going to finish up Date with a Rockstar by Sarah Gagnon

message 20659: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1075 comments I finished my reread of Shadow and Bone (The Grisha, #1) by Leigh Bardugo enjoyed it! Finished Arclight (Arclight, #1) by Josin L. McQuein --I was very confused reading this one. The last 4th of the book was very good, and things started to make more sense to me.

Right now reading The Evolution of Mara Dyer (Mara Dyer, #2) by Michelle Hodkin mostly enjoying it, although sometimes the writing is a bit confusing.

message 20660: by Teresa (new)

Teresa | 606 comments I just finished The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black and I have to put that book in the Not For Me category. The pacing was off, it was really slow and I found myself bored. It felt like everything happened in the last thirty or so pages. I had a hard time connecting to the characters or feeling any emotions about what was happening as I read. Maybe because it was in 3rd person. But I've read plenty of other books told in 3rd person and had no problem connecting to the characters in them. I know this book is in a lot of people's TBR list. Don't let my opinion put you off. A lot of people really liked this book, sadly it wasn't a good fit for me.

A friend bought that for my bday in April!!! And I still haven't gotten to it. *sigh*. I'm glad you loved it :-). I hope to read it someday

Yeah. I can see how some people would like it. It's perfect for Neil Gaiman fans, it reminded me a lot of his books. He's sort of hit or miss for me. I just love stories that are more emotional and gut wrenching and I felt sort of disconnected to this one.

It's out really soon. You won't have to wait long. And I had to squeeze in another ARC, so I'm reading Flawed Heart (House of Obsidian #1) by Bella Jewel instead. Loving it, as with everything Bella Jewel writes.

Well thanks for the heads up Teresa because it sounds like this one will not be for me either then. I've had my fill of slow moving, oddly paced, unrelatable characters, story to last me for a while so far this year. So I will be staying away from this one.
