Reading The Girl at Midnight (The Girl at Midnight, #1) by Melissa Grey and so far I really like it. The writing is excellent. Still trudging my way through The Fill-In Boyfriend by Kasie West . It's just not on par with the others. I really am having a hard time understanding what happened to this author's writing. It feels as though she didn't write this book. I'm baffled.

Great. I love everything Sarah Maas, but I think a few people on this thread mentioned it took them a while to get into it so that made me nervous. I think this will be my next book.

Well, The Near Witch (The Near Witch, #1) by Victoria Schwab was her first book. It wasn't bad, just a little slow. I've been reading so much YA which are more fast paced usually that slower paced books are a bit harder for me to get into. That being said, her writing was very beautiful.

I couldn't agree more - after years of audible I've worked out which narrators I love and which ones I'm not a fan of…if it's someone I've never listened to I'll give them a go but if they're terrible I get a refund and opt for the ebook instead…it really does make a huge difference

Yes, unlike ToG, which pulls you in right from the first page, ACoTaR does take a little while to get into…it really starts moving at around chapter 7-chapter 8 and then it doesn't stop

Here's my review if you'd like to check it out https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Great review. I don't mind waiting a few chapters for the story to get going. That's better than a book that starts out with a major scene and then drags in the middle. Twilight started out real slow and I loved that series. I feel like a lot of books start with a big action scene and you're like Yeah, and then the rest of it is so boring.
