Cheryl La Pa (cheryllp) | 37 comments I just have to brag! I received an ARC from one of my favourite authors - Yield the Night (Steel & Stone Book 3) by Annette Marie . This series is amazing! I am already half way through and it is just as good (maybe even better) than the first two.

I read the book of novellas first before jumping in. I liked having the background on the MC before I started reading her story. The first book takes place a bit after the ending of the final novella. I know people who have read them after, and they were ok. But that was because the novellas came out after they had read book one. IMO you need the novellas to really understand why Celeana is the way she is.

I read ToG and CoM first, then the novellas when they came out and I loved how the novellas filled in the little gaps hinted at in the novels...it's completely up to you....the novellas are fantastic but if you want to dive right in to the ToG story you can, you don't actually need to read the novellas but they do give back story and are very good reads

Okay, cool. So it doesn't matter if I read the novellas first, last or somewhere in between. The novellas don't give anything away or make confused because I didn't start with the actual book series first, though, right?

Nope the novellas don't give anything important away, the real story starts with ToG....it's sort of hard to explain but if you read ToG first you will find the novellas kind of explain how Celaena got to where she was at the start of the book and how she became who she was....I think reading them first would be a different experience but not a bad one...as I said, they are fantastic, as are the three books so far

I don't think so. They are just a lot of background on the main character. You get to see why she became the way she is: her happiness, sadness, losses, etc. For me, it made me understand more, especially in the first book.
