Yeah, I just couldn't get over how naive and kind of boring Bree was, she was just a weak heroine. Archer was dreamy, though. =)

That's good! And NG reviews don't have the added pressure that comes with putting it on a blog post, at least that's how I feel. I don't worry about being a bit more brutally honest when my reviews aren't going up for advertisement on the blog.

You totally should! Once again, because of the mod challenge (Erin) I fell in love with My Skylar by Penelope Ward . Since then I've read everything. She's probably one of my favorite authors now.

message 15580: by Tiana411 (new)

Tiana411 | 701 comments I really enjoyed My Skylar by Penelope Ward too. As I was reading reviews I was disappointed to hear that someone who gave it 1 star was singled out by the author on her Facebook page for her negative review on Amazon which led her fans to attack this poor reviewer. I'm not sure that I can support bad author behaviour who would single out someone for not liking her book. I read this review and it wasn't a personal attack it was an objective opinion and she made some valid points that I agreed with when I read it. If you're interested read the review by "laura " who gave it 1 star. It's close to the top.

I don't have any idea what happened on Amazon with the fangirls or whatnot, but I did read the review and felt like it was just an immature lash out. Yes, authors need to understand they WILL happen, but this Laura was very harsh and nit-picked everything from A to B, including Ward's having an autistic child in two of her books which was "convenient" and "lazy writing" (her words, not mine). Ward has an autistic child herself and I'm sure was partly trying to raise some awareness through her work, so I feel like pointing this and every other little issue out was just aggressively cruel. It's what authors open themselves up to with these review sites, though, so if Ward did get involved in a defensive way hopefully it was just a one-time thing. I don't like it when they lash back, either, but Ward is a genuinely sweet woman and I like to think this wasn't in her nature as an author. =)
