What Are You Reading? 2015

OMGOMG indeed Tasha!! WooHoo!!!

Love this book RininTa."
Still desperately need to read book 2 for this. It's Lucas' POV! Need to read it this month somehow...
Reading
and I'm bored. 26% in and nothing has really happened. The girl is pining over the guy (and it's annoying b/c I haven't seen any interaction between them that would make her attracted...it's all about his looks). And we were just introduced to two new characters and it's obvious who they are.

Loved The Fine Art of Pretending! I cannot wait for the next one. and Rachel is a super sweetie! And Keep with Under The Never Sky. It's a bit odd at first, but it is REALLY good.

DNF'd
at 34%. I just can't deal with the MC and her pining over this guy she hardly knows (all for looks). The author didn't show any interactions to make me feel the connection at all. Plus, nothing has really happened. That's two books by this publisher I had to DNF this week.

Even harder to fall in love with "looks" in a book than in real life. Gotta have something more than a cardboard with a name...

and it has such a great cover, too. That's what drew me to it. Then the blurb was pretty good. Sadly, I was not enjoying the words at all.

I think it's soooo creative how the old pictures are used to write the story around. The story doesn't blow my mind, but the concept is so cool I still end up loving it.

Ok, I need to start a me book. Maybe that will cure the slump from this last week! I think I'll pick
back up. I've only read the first 6 chapters. I know it will make me happy. I still have to finish
, as well.

Tracy this one has a lot more pictures - I had heard that and was worried that it would be like... the author wanted to squeeze so many pictures in that they wouldn't tie in with the story and it would just seem ridiculous, but that's not the case at all. I think the 2nd one is better than the first!(so far)

MEEP!"
Ditto for me Brooke :D cannot wait!!

That sucks Brooke :(

Well Brooke I've grabbed many books based mostly on cover lust too LOL! Happily most of them have been good reads too :P

Yep, I really need to find a book that sucks me in. It's like I read 1-2 good ones, then the crappy ones abound :(

Yeah, my cover lust needs to tame itself down so I don't keep making the same mistakes!

I know it was her POV at first so he seemed so wonderful. But it just kind of came out of left field for me. It was a complete switch in personality on his side, and in my mind we would have seen a piece of that earlier. All we really saw was her starting to move away from him because of Warner. I don't know. . . I just liked Adam and was really disappointed she decided to make him a bad guy to make the choice easier.

I agree. It felt a bit like this for me for sure. I mean, I know Juliette was a bit confused by the Warner thing at the end of Shatter Me, but she did withdraw for sure.

I want to read the this one to Tasha.

I finished
yesterday and now I need more mystery. However I'm reading
and it's OK but the romance part of this is confusing me. They are liking each other when they shouldn't and...well just confused.

STILL need to get to this one! UGH!"
Yeah, you should get this book! The story is so so so good! :))
@Belkis: I just finished this book and...OMG! I fall in love with it. I also need the second one! :D

Exactly; I just think the massive difference in Adam from the start to the finish of this series was such a disservice to his character. I absolutely adored him, I literally went right back and read Shatter Me as soon as I finished because I wanted to see it knowing who Adam really was to her in the beginning, not just some soldier. It was such an intense and beautiful thing between them, and Tahereh crushed that and ruined him in the process. I love how Warner became a better person for her and the connection between them, but I think she just trashed Shatter Me by doing that. Just my opinion, of course, but if you read through the SM reviews, EVERYONE loved Adam. It's like this 'rave about Adam' fest in the SM reviews, so I was shocked at how she handled him given how much her readers loved him.

Yeah, it's definitely one of the bigger character shift disappointments for me. I just hate being duped by authors, there's no need to make something overtly strong in one direction and then completely turn around the other way. SM wouldn't have been as brilliant if Adam hadn't been the incredible guy he was, but by doing that without the intention of him getting the girl...I felt cheated. Ah well, fiction is fiction.

I'm waiting until the next movie comes out before I decide if I want to read it. I've heard only negative things about this one, and for as long of a read as that one is I don't want to waste the time if it's just not good. Sorry the audio wasn't doing anything to make it bearable!

There should have been a stronger fight from him. Not what she made him to be. I felt like he just kind of let things get away from him, went from this strong soldier to a wuss. A totally different person than we were introduced to. Complete turn around and it was just not right.

Yeah, honestly I would have taken it better if he had died defending her or been killed in battle being the hero that he started out as. Why, oh WHY do authors feel the need to ruin great characters just to make the story bend the way they wanted it to?! Ugh, it's making me mad thinking about it. lol

Forgot to mention that I finished
and it was surprisingly deep and heart-wrenching. I went in expecting the typical Entangled-style contemp romance, but it was much better!

Love the Tv Show HATE the books. I can't stand the books because of how Sara just keeps writing them and there is no character growth they all keep doing things that A will find out and they act as though A will never find out. It's just annoying you'd think they'd grow up a bit.

I've read almost half of the book and I seriously agree with you both, Erin and Brooke. I can't believe that Adam has turned out to be the terrible guy. I mean, I love Warner and his wicked ways, always have, but what she has done to Adam is very cruel indeed.

Yeah, I agree. I guess it's artistic license. I might not like it, but they have to take the story where they feel it needs to go. I often hear authors talk about how their characters lead them. I can tell you from experience with my own MS that it's true. I had to write a chapter two different ways, I mean completely write it, so I could figure out where the character was taking me. My first instinct had been right, but I wasn't sure. I can be angry or disappointed in how a character acts or what they do, but in the long wrong, I can't really fault the author for needing to do it, even if it makes me not so happy.

WooHoo!! Well Donna I dunno girl but I most certainly keep coming back for helpings so right there with you LOL! Can't wait to get to this one!! I really loved the first Colorado mountain and I've read tons of great things about book 2 so yeah totally going to follow your lead and get to this one this month. Honestly KA is freaking fantastic with so many great series to choose from and they're all so SO good. Right now I have like 4-5 of her series going and can't ever make up my mind as to which of them I wanna read next. It so hard to choose. Been dying DYING to start 2 of her PNR series Fantasyland & The Three but just can't start another new one until I finish at least one of the five I'm reading right now LOL!

Yes Erin, it's been days and I'm still thinking about both TFSoFiL & MBU :( both were such impacting reads in different yet somewhat similar ways. Both were emotionally draining and beautiful. I think that's why my next read took me a few days to get through.
