Ugh!! There's a cliffhanger??!! Oh Brooke please give us a heads up it there is since you're reading it first. I though this was a standalone book. I might shelve this one until the next one is closer to release....

Yep it's why I stagger series when I have the chance to before getting to the latest. I always try to have at least two books before the latest well or try to.

Danielle (Danniegurl) (danniesreads) | 1326 comments I finished Touch the Dark (Cassandra Palmer, #1) by Karen Chance loved it, want to go to book 2 but Moon Called (Mercy Thompson, #1) by Patricia Briggs is ready for me so I am going to try that, though I don't have high hopes because I read book 1 of the spin off and hated it. I hope this doesn't have multi POVs. I'm going to give it a shot but we shall see.

It's between the two ATM. So while it does have some romance ish moments it was really more about other things than being romantic. So I find it more UF with a side plot of romance. Dorina Basarab is the spin off series to this which I happened to read first and LOVED LOVED LOVED. But there are only 3 books out and book 4 coming soon so I didn't read book 3 so I am waiting. I LOVE UF as well. But I do find I need a slight romance to help me through it too. Lol.

I can honestly say, no. I know Tarryn wrote the female part and Hoover wrote the male parts. The writing was just meh all the way around. Nothing special. Nothing like her other books for sure. I didn't particularly connect with the characters. The male character had ok development and was consistent, the female character not so much. Descriptions were totally lacking. There was so much mystery but nothing got solved. Ok, so maybe they don't want us to know how things actually happened, but I needed someone to throw me a bit of a bone.

Huh. You don't think that they maybe don't mesh well? Maybe Go over was trying to conform to Fishers writing or vise versa? Just guessing here. Didn't know it was a mystery. Hoover is pretty good with keeping the story secret for a time. Maybe I will wait until the second one comes out to.

The story is secret for the whole book. I had no idea what was going on. No idea if they conformed. What I do think is that this is self-pubbed, so doesn't have the editor from a big publisher aspect, which lends a lot to a book. Definitely affected how it came across.
