Started Thornhill (Hemlock, #2) by Kathleen Peacock earlier today and 30% in. I liked the beginning, now I'm a little bit bored. I need something big to happen. I mean, the story is good, but I feel like it's a bit drawn out so far. Here's hoping it gets better for me. I heard the second book was better than the first!

Oh, I'm so happy to hear that. I love Raven Cycle series, one of my favorites. Unfortunately, I still haven't read this one. It's so expensive, kindle is 12-something and HC 14-something, I love this series but that's too much. Luckily, tomorrow is my B.day and I'm expecting Amazon gift cards from everyone, lol, then I will freely use 1-click button.

Nicole I chose A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness to try and end my reading drought, because I've love Patrick Ness' writing.

It was definitely a great choice. Such a beautiful story. It had me crying by the end.

message 13110: by Ashlee (new)

Ashlee | 309 comments Okay...I'm in a book slump....the books that I've read recently haven't exactly been my favourite books of all time, but they've just been really easy to get into and held my attention right from the start (recent reads are Sebastian St Cyr series, Arcania Chronicles, Wicked and Isla's Inheritance)

Now im having trouble finding a book that grabs me...I've picked up Snow Like Ashes (Snow Like Ashes, #1) by Sara Raasch about four times and can't get past the first chapter (I will eventually but it's just not grabbing me right now) ...same goes for Opposition (Lux, #5) by Jennifer L. Armentrout - what I liked about that series was that Katy wasn't a whiny, mopey bitch...all she does in chapter one is whine, mope and bitch

Anyway...need a recommendation for something that's easy to get into, preferably UF

Cheers

I am in one such slump myself. Most of the books I read recently were only mind numbing and only enough to while away my free time. I am also looking for good books with heroines who don't mope or whine.
Have you read vampire academy, sweep Wicca, any l j Smith books, seven realms and mediator series. They are really awesome reads and one of the few books that came to my mind. They can get you out of your slump.

Awesome, thanks Veronica! Yeah I've read VA and bloodlines several times - they are actually my go to "slump re-reads" for when I'm having trouble finding something new, but I know I'll want to re-read them in feb either before or after the last bloodlines comes out so I've decided to branch out this time lol

Also loved Seven Realms...I have Chima's other series, The Heir Chronicles downloaded, but there's always that fear that it won't be as good lol

I'll check out the other ones you mentioned, they sound promising!

Yes Ekaterine they are pretty expensive. One of the main reasons why I LOVE LOVE my audible.com membership is that apart from saving my eyesight from excessive reading and the fact that I can listen to my books while doing a multitude of things - including work :P - is the fact that expensive books are pretty budget friendly. I ended up paying $9.29 for the audiobook of Blue Lily. The narration to this series is fantastic by the way, and then I can buy the ebook or book later on in the future (if I want to) when it goes on sale or in most cases I can add in the kindle book to tie into the narration for really cheap. I save my 24 book credits in my yearly membership for all of the high priced books that I plan on getting and it works out great. If you enjoy audiobooks Ekaterine I would recommend checking this out. And there are so many perks included in having a membership, like super sale prices on tons of audiobooks, a daily book special, tie in narrations for kindle books you've purchased in the past. Also you should check out Kindle Unlimited which is another awesome Amazon offering for like $9.99 a month you get unlimited access to hundreds and hundreds of ebooks and the added bonus of getting narrations for very cheap to go along with the ebooks :) I'm a total Amazon freak LOL! LOVE LOVE them and Prime is THE BEST EVER! Get loads of perks with Prime membership as well.

Happy Birthday!!
