Yes, it's more fast paced because it's a serial. Remember she published each episode a few weeks apart, so we had to wait like a TV show! Second season was only one week apart, much better, but still a wait. I'm finishing up the final episode of that season now! Just the break I need from the horror of the other book I'm reading! LOL!

I enjoyed the Gamble very much. Max was scrumptious. ;) So far though, I think Joe/Cal from At Peace is my ultimate fave (the 'Burg). & Bridget - I thought WEIA was great. Super funny & heartbreaking.

OMG, it's so good! I'm gonna fly through these until I'm caught up. It'll be a sad day for me, but isn't the next one out soon?

@Donna, it is! But I've been waiting for too long already; even though it's just a month before its release, it feels like it's still toooooooooo far away *cries* (I love Mac, but I love Dani even more <3)

which finishes out this season of the serial. It was really good. I would have liked a little more of the sexy in the final sexy scene because there really wasn't anything there :( But overall such a great story. I can't wait for future stuff. And reading and finishing this so quickly just solidifies the fact that I'm really not in love with JLA's writing as much as I used to be because Wicked is just not holding my interest. This makes me SO SAD! I cannot begin to tell you how much.

I agree, The Gamble is one of my absolute favorite KA books. As much as I love the Rock Chicks I think the Colorado Mountain & Burg series are my favorites.

I'm reading Payne's as well.
See that's one thing I have a major issue with with BDB books, the random other POVs that I really don't care about like this guy Xcor, I know he's going to be a problem later in the series, at least I suspect, but I really could careless what he is doing. The thing is I'd like to skip his stuff, but I feel like I'll miss something.....

And you would be. He will be a major part in the future. He's one of those you hate but I think Ward wants that in her books. The same way it was with Lash.

Dani has her own book as well, Iced. She's OK but she isn't Mac for sure. I'm not sure I like Moning doing a series on Dani and cutting out Mac but I heard the next Dani book has more Mac and Barrons in it. I won't read anymore without Barron.

I've been reading other things instead. Usually, I can't wait to get back to one of JLAs books. I'm kinda disappointed. It's not really a bad story but It's not that interesting either. (I've also noticed what everyone's saying about all her characters sounding the same)

I've been reading it since Monday and it's just not keeping my interest. I keep picking up other things. I'm about 70% in and I'm not rushing to finish it. I don't think it's all that interesting. Her books usually keep my interest, but the last few have not b/c of what you said about the characters.

So I was able to grab the first season, books 1-9 on audio for really cheap - something like $5 woohoo!! Gotta love Amazon, really. And the narrator is very good :) how I love audiobooks! I started listening from book 5 since I had read the first 4 already but I love it since I'm doing laundry all day today I can still continue with my new Debt Collector addiction :D

Her characters are not developed so as a reader you never really get invested and to me, that's the most important thing in a story. If a writer can't make a reader feel anything for the characters, and it doesn't matter what the readers feel for them (it can even be pure HATE mind you), then the story just goes nowhere.

Payne's book is my least favorite one of the series though. Not a fan of her but needed to read it to get to the next one as well as find out what all the brothers were up to so I read it. Once you finish it you can read the next next one hahahaha!

I'm ki..."It's exactly the same for me. Started Monday and I'm about 65%. It just doesn't feel like anything is going to happen in this book. Sorta like book 1 is a huge buildup for book 2. It's just so disappointing. I adored the Lux books, even though many didn't like those.
