Andrea: BookStoreFinds (bookstorefinds) | 91 comments I finished These Broken Stars! I'm super happy with it and it ended beautifully! Now I need to read the novella and wait until book 2 come out in December!

Well fwiw, I hated the Dark Duets series too. I stopped after the second installment. This is probably just not my genre. I can deal with consensual erotic spankings between two consenting ADULTS etc...but not with sadistically motivated abuse and pain. I will admit that I was mistaken about something. The sex w/ a teenager wasn't with Wesley. It was with Michael. Besides adult/teen pairings, people having to be hospitalized or requiring first aid after a sexual encounter is my personal skeeve threshold. Even if it is consensual. It's just not my thing.

Regarding the relationship between Wesley and Nora.....he was still very young when they met. He was also clearly in love with her....more than she was with him, as it seemed to me. I found the relationship "skeevy" because he was living with her and it seemed like she was stringing him along and taking advantage of him. I didn't like their relationship because he was young and inexperienced and had high hopes of ultimately changing her. (He was in love with her and wanted a "normal"/vanilla relationship.) She was old enough and had been around enough to clearly see that they were sexually incompatible.

Tracy wrote: "Did you like Siren Laura? I've been debating with myself about reading that one."

I've read the first two books in this series The Siren (The Original Sinners, #1) by Tiffany Reisz The Angel (The Original Sinners, #2) by Tiffany Reisz , all of the novellas, and the first of the White Years. This was a tough series for me. I have no problem whatsoever with the taboo and even the more gritty unsettling stories, and this was absolutely a one-of-a-kind series (you can get this much just from book 1, it's intense). It's just not for everyone because Nora is a VERY strong-willed heroine who comes across as detached in some ways, which I didn't like. She has to be that way to be the character she is, and you've got to love her for that. But the dynamic of her loving a man that can never fully give himself to her and then freely giving herself to several other men that she then grows to love...it just became too much like a swinger relationship for me at times. Just my opinion, and I was still absolutely impressed by Reisz because these books are just incomparable.

Danielle (Danniegurl) (danniesreads) | 1326 comments I finished Anna in the Middle by Barbara Elsborg it was definitely interesting a lot of sex and I mean a lot, which I knew going in but I didn't expect it that much lol. Some M/M actions as well, which was cool but I wasn't extremely into it. The overall story was interesting and kept pissing me off but the resolution to the conflict lacked, a lot.
