I really liked this one, but it's not her best. I liked Maybe Someday better for sure. I actually didn't love Slammed. I think b/c the writing was not as good b/c it's her first stuff and I found it harder to read.

Exactly. I started with Hopeless then moved on to Maybe Someday. Then read Slammed. I'm 30% into PoR but I'm not loving it to be honest. it's kind of boring. But I'll finish it and see if it gets better for me.

I just could not connect with the characters at all. And the writing was like this: I got up. I walked across the room. I turned on the light. It was glowing. I sat back down. I picked up the book. I started to read.

I own all of the books, including the novellas. I just haven't gotten around to reading them yet. Where do the novellas fit in? After which book should they be read?

I read the novellas first. They are prequels and give a lot of good insight into who the main character is and how she comes about the circumstances at the beginning of the first book. You don't HAVE to read the novellas, but I liked that I did. Maas mentions things in the books that have to do with the stories you read in the novellas and it was nice to have that background first.

It made me cry and fall in love, so its a damn good book!

Yup the novellas added so much insight to the overall story and insight into Celaena's character. It was wonderful getting all of that background. I ended up reading the novellas after I had already read the first 2 books and I still loved them so I don't think it matters in which order you end up reading them, at least it didn't for me :)
