What Are You Reading? 2015

I've seen you reading those & have it on my TBR list. Good to know they are light & funny!

I had struggled with this series too Mel. I love her League series and tried this one but after 2 books I don't think it's for me. I got bored and the sex scenes felt a bit forced?? I mean in the sense that I felt like Kenyon sacrificed storyline/plot and opted for the smexiness?? Not necessarily a bad thing but just didn't work for me. It just made the story flat and didn't add any depth to the characters. Maybe in the later books once she's developed the series more this won't be the case since many readers seem to enjoy this series and it's up to like 24 books or something like that. I'm not sure if I'll continue onto the next one - book 3 for me - or not. I wasn't a fan of the first 2 books.

Oh my goodness Donna, the mothers, and aunts, and siblings are hysterical when they go at it! Typical family craziness and then some :) plus good feels and romances. Win-win!

I agree. Everything is forced and I'm not into the insta-love like I'm almost done with book 1 and I still have no idea why this couple is together, there were no reasons given why they are sooooo in love. Each character feels like a stock character. I love how badass and strong the guys in the League are but the guy Kyrian in this one is kinda weak. I'm just wondering if I should skip a few books and get to the ones that are more current where maybe there will be improvement?

I'll go through my recently read and see if you've read them and rec them to you.

I didn't really think of it as slam poetry, but more like how he saw the world was so beautiful, it was poetic. I liked how she did it...you'll see why.

I hope so, I love CoHo!! I'm big fan of poetry and I love reading poems that has rhythm and rhyme, but I never got into slum and I'm afraid it will give me a headache. :(

I really enjoyed Mind Games. Need to continue the series. Read a novella in the series that got me started on it a long time ago. And just have never gotten back to it. Quite a different world.

Wow Mel, that's actually a really good idea :) I might just do that too. At least to see if the improvement is considerable. Hmmm.. I wonder what book I'll try next time LOL! Maybe #10?? And then we can gauge from there :D

Oh Laura!! I need to know if the secret was a good one or not!! Can you tell me?? LOL! With a spoiler flag just for me please hahahahaha! Because I want to know since I read book 1 but I'm not reading book 2 :D

Same for me with Sempre Laura. Very long, kind of slow and drawn out, and just a meh read for me. And on Baustiful Ashes, I was so very looking forward to it. Crap, oh well, I guess I don't need to rush to get to it. Next month will be soon enough. I do love the narrator so that's a plus :) Oh and Feral Sins is fantastic! Hope you enjoy. I still need to read book 3 to end this trilogy.

Hmmm, I don't remember any slam poetry in Ugly Love Ekaterine.... And thanks for the heads up on Minds Games, I'll have to move it up my TBR list!

Really?! That's giving me hope. What I heard was that one of the POVs is written with slam poetry. Mind Games was amazing, don't mind the cover. It has nothing to do with the book or the story. :) It's really good and so much different then any other PNR. I'm continuing with the series as soon as I have time.

I loved it! The different setting was what got me into it and of course Packard. :D Me definitely Team Packard. The chemistry between the main characters blew me away.

Oh the "romance" if you can call it that is rushed and just happens instantly at the end .. till next book.. it was to rushed.

Ugly Love doesn't have slam poetry in it. It does have prose for one of the main character's chapters, sort of.

Oh I forgot about J Frost's new one. Definitely going to jump on that!

Thanks danielle:)

That's a bummer, I think this is the series of hers that I have some of. Need to check, I got them ages ago and never got to them.

Added MG to the TBR, I'm glad you mentioned it because the 3.5 rating would have turned my head otherwise!

I love this series. The first book wasn't great but they get better with each book. It's like you can see Kenyon's imagination grow.

I want to read this one to Nicole.

Finnikin was really good. I have to finish this series!

LOVE Cinder - the books get better as they go!

Oh Nicole YAY!! I'm so happy you enjoyed Finnikin as much I did :D I LOVE LOVE this entire trilogy. The books are all equally fantastic. I plan on rereading this over the years.

Sounds like a plan Mel. If you get to it before I do, please let me know how you like it and if I get to it first I'll do the same :)

Another fantastic story. I LOVE Laini Taylor's writing too Caitlin. Glad you're loving it.

That's what I figured Tracy since it's her first series but I'm not giving up on them yet LOL! We plan on jumping back into it on book 10 and see how they're doing. It shouldn't be too bad since each book focuses on a different couple. I figure that if I need to backtrack I can always do that :)

I enjoyed Eleanore and Park but wanted more of an ending. Maybe another book?

Oh it's such a beautiful story Tracy very interesting and the writing and characters are just wonderful. The audios are great by the way. I listened to all 3 books and they were fantastic.

There was a point in this book where I was just like, WOW in regards to Akiva. I mean, wow! I'm on book 3 and stalling out. I'm not in the right place to read it right now,... I have a funny feeling. But it's very good.

Totally with you on that Tracy. The ending left so mush to be desired. I wish RR would write a followup to their story but I don't think she will though. She's said that she likes writing standalone books that tell a complete story from beginning to end. I think that in the case of E&P the author wanted us the readers to finish it in our minds anyway we sought fit LOL!
