I got loads of YA books on my TBR, this would be a good year to clear it a bit!

Absolutely agree Tracy. I'm aiming for a good cleanup year too. I've managed to read a few that have been on my TBR for over a year as well. And I too have to get back to book 2 of Die For Me. Read the first one a few days ago and really liked it. Our series YC is going to do wonders for our TBRs.

Casey Hays | 83 comments I am reading Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver. I loved her Delirium series, so I decided to take a crack at this one. It's not bad. I think it was her first novel.

I'm also reviewing a self-published historical romance for a goodreads author called Verity's Lie, and actually, I am really enjoying it. Very good writing style that keeps me interested. It's not YA, but I do sway from the YA genre in my reading from time to time.

So there ya go! Happy reading!

I loved Before I Fall. but it's VERY different from her Delirium series, for sure. Panic is also very different from her other writing. I didn't enjoy that one so much, but the writing is good.

Casey Hays | 83 comments You won't regret it if you do, Katie. It is such a good series. Good writing, great characters that you fall in love with. That is the key for me. I have to love, or hate, the people in the book as if they were real. Bad character development is a real turn off!

That's it for me too Casey. I need to connect and get invested in the characters. If a story is lacking in character development I will not enjoy the book much.

It wasn't just the ending for me, which was VERY flat. I hated the dual POV. I thought it took away from the story IMO.

I got enough of Hana's view in the novella. These books were about Lena, but that just ruined the flow for me. And, yes, the love triangle was annoying. And it was not well done at all. I'm not a fan of them, usually, they have to be done right. It seemed to be going in that direction, especially at the end of Pandemonium, but then she blew it in that last book. She did make a video explaining why she left it so open ended but, like you, I prefer a bit of closure. I almost feel an open ended book is just to please all the readers, rather than worrying about whether or not people will tear you apart for what you choose to do as an author.

Yes. I agree with all of that. I haven't read the novella. I just discovered her books last April, so I read all three one after the other with no waiting in between. That was kind of nice. I'm not a big fan of love triangles either. Bella, Edward, and Jacob kind if ruined that for me. Mostly because in my opinion, she picked the wrong guy. I was Team Jacob all the way. And while we're talking about finales, I didn't care for Breaking Dawn. It had plenty of closure; it just didn't feel like the first three books. She lost something of the beauty I'd fallen in love with in that last book. It was a disappointing end. Of course, that's a completely different topic.

Ahh...yes, Twilight. Don't get me started. I'm with you. I disliked Edward, a lot. I blasted through those books when I did read them, though. I can only remember how much I enjoyed her getting to know Jacob while Edward was out of the picture. I am an underdog fighter, and jacob was the underdog. I am glad he did get a bit of happiness at the end, though.

Belkis (bminaya) | 8313 comments Okay I finished Not Quite Mine (Not Quite, #2) by Catherine Bybee last night and enjoyed it. Nice and light read which I needed. I then decided to start Everneath (Everneath, #1) by Brodi Ashton it's been sitting in my TBR for over a year at least. Halfway through it and liking it so far. Then I decided I needed a BDB fix so starting a reread of Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1) by J.R. Ward and because I was reminded of another one that has been sitting in my TBR forever I'll be reading The Winter Sea (Slains, #1) by Susanna Kearsley since it's another perfect one for our January Birthstone YC. Will also try and get to Hell's Knights (The MC Sinners, #1) by Bella Jewel to start this series finally. Need to have these done so I can jump on the anticipated 28th releases next week Woohoo!
