I really hate Sister Tabitha. Her heart is definitely not in the right place if she's comfortable with threatening people to believe in the faith but I can't say that she's completely crazy. I mean that's what she was raised to believe and she just chose to take it a little farther than other people. The Sisterhood is definitely hiding something. They say that they are the last village in the world but I find that doubtful. Especially when Gabrielle came through. And how the Sisters won't tell anyone where those two paths lead. I think they all have good intentions but with most people like that, they are doing a terrible job of it. You?

I hate her too. I found her character really "shady". She likes brainwashing the people and I am Christian and all that, but I think she puts God's name and the hope of the village people in a really bad way..

About Gabrielle.. I found her a very intriguing character.

haha! I think Cass is jealous with Mary. She wanted to push through her betrothal to Travis even if she fell in love with Harry. I don't like her character, as you read on, I think you'll agree with me. :D

Yes! Cass is so committed to the Sisterhood and their ways that she doesn't even listen to Mary. It's like she pities her or something for having false ideas about the world and doubting the Sister's teachings! I'm hoping to at least get close to done tonight!

Jasmine asked me about the ocean, since Mary always thinks about it. What do you think about it? Do you think there's life outside of the fence?

Most definitely. Maybe that's too optimistic of me but the world is a really big place. There can't be just one tiny little village left. I don't know if the ocean is not contaminated by Unconsecrated though. On one hand, you can't exactly put barriers around the ocean to keep them out and why would you want to? On the other hand, are the Unconsecrated even able to go into the ocean? How about you?

In most books or movies, zombies are quite allergic with bodies of water. So I guess, the repetitive mention of the ocean in the book is a symbol of 'hope' that there might be a safe place.

(Actually I already finished the book. But don't worry, I won't spoil. :p)

Let's go back to Travis and Harry, who do you think is the better man for Mary?

I don't know much about Travis yet but I'm hesitant to say Harry is 'the one'. He just seems so possessive and so much like that stereotypical man that believes people (women in particular) will always be happy to see him and let him 'save' them. Maybe it's far-fetched but that's just my take. The way he treats Mary and doesn't even try to talk with her when he comes to speak for her made me dislike him even more. I really don't think he loves her at all and is only doing it for the whole commitment thing and also out of pity or guilt. I don't think it rules him out for Mary though considering I haven't read anything about Travis except really when he's been sick and delirious.

I agree. Harry is like Cass who thinks that Mary is some sort of a delirious and rebellious child. He only wants to listen to his own thoughts. Personally, I can't choose between Travis and Harry. They're just not the type of man/men that is loveable. They both have a lot of shortcomings. :D

I think 4 stars maybe? I rate books based on the plot, character development, and it's ability to bring me into a story. I'm an emotional reader so if a book brings out my emotions and makes me cry, laugh, and stomp with frustration, it's most likely a 5 star book. This book didn't quite get there. It was a really good plot line and the characters were pretty good but it just didn't get to the next level. I take the Goodreads definitions of stars seriously so if I rate a book two stars, it was just ok and if I rated it three, I liked it, four I really liked it and five it was amazing. What about you?

Same with you and Jasmine. It's only a 4 stars rating since it was good but not good enough to convey a lot of emotions out of me, 4 because even if there's still a lot of things missing, it managed to haunt me after reading. :)
