must be it. The cover also has an arm with a sock puppet on it.Sounds like a cute, fun, kooky book
Is super dee duper adorable tyvm ^^ The way the author gets sidetracked about his own thoughts in the story remind me of the way my brother tells me stories :D So I find it really animated.

Yup yup, that's the book I wanted :) I have to reread then read the rest of the series. Lol, it's good for adults kids and even okay for guys to read XD
Characters:
Youngest son is a boy with a sock puppet that he NEVER takes off, he sucks at ventriloquism.
Daughter is a teenager who has pretty hair and is a bit snobby and looks like her mum.
Oldest son has a bit of a mustache growing which he is proud of cuz it's like YAY I HIT PUBERTY AND IM SO DAM MANLY I GOT FACIAL HAIR
Father is a scientist
Mother is scientist who was kidnapped by um... Some organization cuz she's smart and discovered time travel!!
Story as I remember it in order> Family is on the run. Mum is missing cuz she's kidnapped. Never know any of family members name cuz PEOPLE ON THE RUN don't use their real names and their names keep changing.
They go to a quiet town, oldest kid joins baseball team
They go back in time and people think they are witches. use a cellphone to scare mobs away. they meet a Native American girl that the oldest son falls in love with . They leave in time travel vehicle for home
Haha, they ruined time machine. Ended up in Viking / pirate era instead of home.
Meet pirates who are their ancestors.
Back to the time machine
...Forget the rest but I'm damn sure there must be a sequel
