Kaleesha Williams | 9 comments Hello everyone! I've sort of been lurking around this group for the last month, reading posts in my limited free time. Looks like I finally have some time to introduce myself. =)

I've been writing for 20 years but just this year published my first book. After my friends and a few family members bought it, I sat and watched my various sales platform reports for signs of life. A sale here, a sale there. Hmm. Now what? Like most writers, I prefer to write than sell. Alas, selling buys time to write. lol

So, I'm learning. I'm doing the research, getting myself out there. I'm finding that reviews are one of the most important things I need to get going for me at this moment in time. All the feedback I've received is positive, I just need more of it! You know how it is. Well, in the process I've discovered that I really enjoy reading and reviewing the works of others. This group seemed a perfect place for such mutual back-scratching. =)

I particularly enjoy memoirs, fantasy and sci-fi and will be searching for these sorts of things to review.

So, I'm just going to mention my book here, then post more about it under "Review requests: memoir giveaway" or some such. Yeah? So, the book is "Free to Be: How I Went From Unhappily Married Conservative Bible Believer to Happily Divorced Atheistic Humanist in One Year and Several Complicated Steps." True story. =)

Happy reading!

Hi

I am the author of An Unreasonable Woman, historical fiction set in Victorian Britain and Africa. The novel follows the lives of a rebellious young woman and a straight-laced officer who are destined to meet and fall in love under the shadow of a war between the British and the mighty Zulu tribe.

I would really like to hear what anyone out there thinks of my novel.

message 156: by Jeffrey (new)

Jeffrey Hollman (holljff) | 8 comments Hello, All--
I have been writing steadily for ten years, mostly for the stage, and the process for being "accepted" there is far different than it is for self-publishing a novel. You send out plays and hear (accepted/ rejected) or don't hear (tantamount to being rejected.) Novel publishing by the self is far more bi-emotional, both tantalizing and frustrating, some times both at the same time. I published a thriller titled UNSETTLE THE SCORE which has received several high ratings on Amazon, and I have sold some books: those are the tantalizing part. Then everything seems to grind to a halt--the frustrating part--and I find myself beating the bushes for the next jump.
I'm sure all of you who have been self publishing know all this. I do not want anyone to hear this as a complaint: I am just describing something that is new for me, which is good because I am continuing to learn. I joined Goodreads as part of my attempt to understand the process of self-publishing, and it has opened me up to new procedures and lots of wonderful people. New for me is writing reviews, which sharpens my eye, and blogs which allow me to bla-bla-bla a bit (not unlike this post.)
Anyway, I would love for any of you who like suspense novels to take a look at my book. It comes in two flavors, hard-copy book and Kindle.
Thank you.
Jeff

Would love some reviews when they are published, however I'm keen to review other people's books too. I am happy to review any genre. If you look at my bookshelves you'll see I read all kinds of stuff. Don't be fooled by the fact that sometimes there are ten or twelve books in a row by the same author. I've haven't been long on GR and have years and years of books to shelve!!! I'm not sure if this is the place to talk about my books in detail. Perhaps Rebecca or Cora could tell me if I'm allowed to link to my website, blog and Twitter etc. Thanks.

Carlton Brown (grandsolarminimumiceagere-entry) Hello Everyone. Thank you for making such groups exist! I´ve recently joined GR and am also an active reviewer, and will continue to be now i´m here. If there are any willing reviewers who would like to review my book, then i would be really appreciative of this - thank you. I am a veterinarian, biotech entrepreneur, vaccine innovator, hobby archaeologist-researcher, adventurer, and now author. In January 2014 I published “Sun God Sacred Secrets”, the first of three books. Humankind´s best kept secret is revealed. This was once the basis of their great religions, and a great source of power which built great empires and gave control. This secret has the greatest potential to transform your life, and more than anything I know. My passion lies in understanding humankind´s real history over the last 12,000 years, and earth’s climate cycles which underpinned the most significant event(s) in our history. Abrupt climate change caused the ice caps to melt, worldwide flooding and the oceans rose 120m rapidly. This left its footprint in almost every ancient society´s myth & legend, and will almost certainly leave its footprint on our future. Telling this collective story over a number of books and multimedia releases is my mission.

I have loads more stories to come about Aggie, but I'm also just finishing off a grown up chicklit novel, which should be coming out at the end of the this month. Called Meaning to Be, it's about the consequences of taking notice of a fake fortune teller, which I suppose follows yet again my interest in the supernatural, mystical side of life! Amber (amberterminatorofgoodreads) | 82 comments A web serial is like a serialized story done like a chapter a week until the story is finished or as episodes like as tv shows has episodes and seasons. It's what Charles dickens did when he first started writing he'd do a story which he did in installments. Mine is done the way Monica S. Kuebler did with her online web serial novel series the Blood magic saga at http://www.blood-magic.net where she did hers a chapter a week until she finished but I'm doing mine a chapter a week until I finish in the goodreads creative writing community and ones finished and I'm doing a sequel to it in that format too.

I love to read too. :)

Christie Maurer | 7 comments Hi... I'm Christie Maurer and last summer I self-published my first novel, The Dark Lady's Stone. It's a well-researched medieval fantasy adventure about an era when new gods and old gods compete for power. My troubadour hero, along with the whole court, joins an expedition to destroy the standing stone of the Dark Lady of Death. When he learns that the gods are not what he thinks he must risk a heretic's death by fire to prevent a catastrophe for gods and men. Characters include a Sacerdote, a shaman, a beautiful countess, and vengeful ghosts.

I am looking for reviews to post on amazon, other sites, Goodreads, and my blog. In return, I am willing to review other authors' work. This month The Dark Lady's Stone is available for download on Net Galley: https://www.netgalley.com/catalog/sho...

I like to read fantasy, mystery, historical, and some general fiction. My favorite authors include Tolkhein (of course), the Kings (Laurie R & Stephen), Patricia McKillip, Agatha Christie, Terry Pratchett, Steve Berry, and Margaret Frazer.

Andy | 2 comments Hi

After serving in the British Army and then working for the UK Government on counter terrorism duties, I have recently published my first novel; Invective. Following the narrative arc of Herman Melville’s Moby Dick, the story explores what makes some of us need to seek out adventure and conflict, and makes many of us need to believe in a cause. Ismael, the central character, attempts to understand why so much of the violence he has seen on his journey from English suburbia into a terrorist cell on the Aghanistan border, is caused by our inability to accept what it means to be human and the reality of all our fates. Along the way he is recruited by the security services and is forced to question what he really believes and ask himself what he is really capable of. Seventy percent of the sale (everything that Amazon doesnt get) of Invective will be donated to War Child, charity no. 1071659

I am looking for reviews and will also review fiction. Below is the link to the Amazon page:

The last book I reviewed was Eden, Dawn: The Chronicles of Paradise which was also my first attempt at reading dystopian science fiction. It was a fantastic read, and I'm now hooked on the Dystopian genre.

I am Massimo, and I have been writing reviews of books I read since ever and long time before I (just) discovered this thread. So reviewing comes natural to me, and being a researcher helped me develop attentive care for details and fair criticism without disregarding support and instill seeds for improvement wherever possible.
I have reviewed English, Italian and French books across very different genres and styles -- feel free to have a look at my page and propose your book! Finally I have a finite bandwidth nonetheless, hence I can only accept so many books unfortunately...

Good reads and Cheers!
