Bryan Hi everyone. I started seriously reading Stephen King a few months ago and have gotten through Carrie, Misery, Salem's Lot, The Mist, Cell, and Under the Dome. I generally find him pretty fun, but at times wordy and in those times I feel the pacing of his stories begins to suffer.

Right now I'm trying to get through It but am having a hard time. I feel like it's been 300 pages (thus far) of character development with little in the way of plot taking place.

So I'm wondering, is this story going to pick up? I'm hoping I won't be wading through the next 700 pages hoping for something exciting to happen and being disappointed.

For reference, I LOVED Carrie and Misery. Salem's Lot and Under the Dome suffered from pacing problems, I feel, and I reeeeeally did not care for Salem's Lot.

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Hi Bryan, IT definitely does pick up, but there is a lot of character development throughout the book. That's one of the things that I like about the story.

But, we already have a thread for IT, so I'm going to close this one as we like to keep the threads neat. Please feel free to comment here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
