Dellarrine Carroll | 6 comments Ok All I can really remember is it was a post-apocalyptic book (I think it was nuclear war, I'm pretty sure in some point of the book there is a man in a bunker who pushed a button and launches nuclear weapons), There was a vehicle that ran off of solar power and had battery cells that needed to be charged at one point, There was a walled in city that was protected, but the main character did not live in it, The main character was male, and there were a sort of tribe of other people that lived outside of the wall that he helped and helped him. Although it seemed set in the future there was no space travel, or other worlds involved

When was it published, or what year did you read it?

Rachel | 1527 comments Could it be Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood? It's not a perfect fit with your description (biological rather than nuclear war), but there is a male main character and a group of genetically modified humans (the Crakers) who initially live in a kind of bio-dome.

Abby | 215 comments It sounds similar to Alas, Babylon by Pat Frank. There is a group of people that try to survive together as a community after there is a nuclear bombing in America and lots of radioactive fallout. However, some of the details are different. Maybe we could at least rule it out. Good luck!

Dellarrine Carroll | 6 comments It's not Alas, Babylon either, I dot remember there being much of a military presence in the book...
