Pick up a copy of the novel Nineteen Eighty-Four this week in class.

Read page 1 to the middle of page 9 ("It had happened that morning at the Ministry.")

Based on what you've read, respond to this statement: Everybody is disconnected from everybody else because of fear.

Everybody is vulnerable, but this human trait cannot be embraced because it is artificially imposed and there are severe and real consequences from Big Brother if betrayed. Nobody wants to be a nobody. It is caused by the lost reality and community. There have been unfree societies in the past, cause during the Middle Ages there was hardly anything of what we would now call democracy. Which causes every buddy to be disconnected from everyone else because of fear.

Everybody feels trapped under the overpowered authority/govenment. The people are being controlled by the government and the only thing stopping the citezens is fear. Fear is what makes the people physicaly and mentally weaker. The society is disconected dew to the fact that Big Brother watches the people and controlls the people to the point that they have no rights. If the people become strong enought to rebel, then they will be connected as a community. That is how I see the staement.

Everybody is basically to themselves , nobody really cares about what others do . Everybody is under critical watch and nobody really is paying attention to what the other is doing . Basically everybody could care less about what everybody else is doing because they have to worry about what their doing .

Everyone keeps to them selfs and does what they want to. Nobody cares what everyone does they only care about the selfs and there safety what they do. Basically everyone is considede with themselfs.
