Michael Anderson Don't understand some of these comments. Almost all Dostoevsky are great! No reason to go away from him until you've read them all. If you love "The Brothers" read The Possessed, my personal favorite. "Crime" is great; The Idiot maybe less so. Read White Nights.

Feliks That's good advice.

Gary Patella I plan on reading them all by the time I die. However, I simply never read the same author back to back. In fact, I have to read a fairly decent amount of books by other authors before I repeat authors. It may seem pointless to some, but by reading the different writing styles, it seems to keep things fresh. I'm afraid that if I keep reading the same author (even an excellent one like Dostoevsky, I will become too used to it to appreciate it.

Well, you'll have trouble reading them after that.

Michael Anderson Let me make another suggestion. If you want to switch authors, switch Russian authors. try Turgenev or Gogol. I have found that staying in a country and a period helps deepen my understanding of the culture. Another example would be to flip between Austen and Hardy.

Stosch the twayne author series of dos. is very good, highly recommend it
