I like the additions! I just need to find Catch-22 and The Idiot.
Question about THHGTTG: Do all five parts enter?
Question about THHGTTG: Do all five parts enter?
I'd rather not have all books of a series on the list, even if it's just a series of three or five books. The reading challenge is to expose us to new books and authors, so if someone likes a book/author, they can continue to explore on their own...
If you have a smartphone, you can get books in the public domain for free with the YiBook app. I know it has The Catcher in the Rye, The Idiot, and The Secret Garden.
I like your idea. That's what I've been doing with series: read the first of each to see how they are and if I want to continue with them later or not.
I'll have to get Dostoyevski's book in my own language instead of in English or it'd be a double translation for me.

I can probably help with getting books in other languages .. Also, it's your lucky day because you get to add four books to the shelf.
Tag the group shelves for reading challenge like I did.
For the moment, help me get Seraphina once it's needed. I've tried but I can't get that one. In English, because it's the original language and I can read it like that.
I've added one to learn how to do it and yes, the tag is there so I can use it.

to keep up with everyone else, you all can follow the bookshelf schedule.. there will be ten or eleven days for reading and two/three days for further discussions (on the threads and on the FB page)the first book we are reading is A Scandal in Bohemia.. If you don't have a copy of it, check your local library because works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle are available all over the world..
and if you can't find it in your library either, send me a private message
The works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle are free to download on the web. Try The Online Book Page, it has them all available for the public. And any other page would have them in any language.
Also, The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes is a free book on the Kindle store (as are the other Holmes books, I think).
they can also be found free on smashwords.com or feedbooks.com i got it through the pocket books app for android
I thought you had already put the one that shows up next, The Colour of Magic, in the schedule.
Btw, if we read The Colour of Magic, we must read The Light Fantastic with it as they're both part of the same story.

Apologies if this has been recommended (or vetoed) already, but I'd like to add Thomas Harris's "Red Dragon" and "Silence of the Lambs" to the reading list. They are great crime/horror thrillers and I hope more people can give them a try. Plus, those who are going to watch NBC's "Hannibal" season two should read the, for the backstory.
I think it's a good idea, David. The Hannibal series was suggested before but I think it hasn't been voted yet. Would you like to cast your vote for one of them for the next reading challenge and which one?
...So there isn't an actual link to vote? Well then: I hereby vote for Thomas Harris's RED DRAGON to be on the list of our next Reading Challenge, it's a well-written crime/horror thriller and after we finish that I hope we can move on to SILENCE OF THE LAMBS as well.
the books are on the group bookshelf, and you can comment your vote here.. I still don't know if there is an actual voting option here because I use the android app which is very minimalistic
1 Thank you for explaining; I'll just wait for the next list to come out then recommend the books2 Maybe I should stop using this iPad App to access GoodReads; it doesn't have all of the site's functions.
Speaking of the functions, I'm still trying to learn where did the bookshelf with all the options went. It used to be visible, but now only the current reading is being shown. And I'm on a desktop computer. I'll keep looking and see if there's any voting function.
I FOUND THE POLL OPTION!
Just tell me which books I add to the poll and I'll make it. And the dates for the poll to take place.

We can vote on Slaughterhouse five, Neverwhere and The Colour of MagicAnd voting should start right away xD
Red Dragon is on the list, I'd like to vote for it. And if there are any "slots" left empty I'd like to recommend Silence of the Lambs.
So far then the options are:
Slaughterhouse Five;
Neverwhere;
The Colour of Magic;
Red Dragon;
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy;
1984.
TL, name the day the poll ends.

Are you a group member, Taylor, and are you on Email Alert? There should be an email by the site that links you to the voting page. Ask the Mods.
Hey hey hey! So we're reading the Hitchhiker book next, yes? If so... I'm finding it difficult to get access to it. I'm on the waiting list at my library, but I donno how long it'll take... if anyone has one of those nifty online links, 'twould be much appreciated... :/
Are you a group member, Laila? If so then check out the link I have in my previous comment—that's where you can cast your own vote. Actually the poll closes on the first of February, so I'm still hoping that Red Dragon would catch up by then.
Oh, darn, were you talking about links to the BOOK? You can google for bt torrent downloads of that book, that's how I got mine to read.
Laila, this is a link for an epub version:
http://www.epubbud.com/book.php?g=79G...
It has all 5 parts in it. We're only reading the first one.
If not, torrents are good, like David suggested. I got mine from there too.

Oh yeah, I did vote ^_^ Sorry, perhaps I didn't word it clearly. I wasn't sure when the poll closed, but if Red Dragon wins, I'm probably going to need a link for that too o.o Thanks for the Hitchhiker link :)
