When her childhood friend, Aiden, who eventually abandoned her in the 7th grade to become one of the asshole "popular kids", shows up in her living room to propose, saying that she's angry is an understatement. But she has no choice, it's all been arranged behind her back, and life probably hates her so much because who else than the guy who makes fun at her at school, flipped her skirt in the 10th grade -- which led to someone taking a picture and posting it everywhere, and oh let's not forget abandoned her -- even though they've practically known each other since birth.
And Anna despises him. She has wished death upon him plenty of times. But this marriage is the only thing that's going to save her family from destruction, and Anna has a choice to make a choice, her happiness or her parent's well being? But what is happiness to Anna? Is it freedom from this situation, or will Aiden work himself into her happiness?

Who am I? There are blanks in my accounts; I was at the bottom of the well when I came to, looking up at the sky.

Gabby is the daughter of the most powerful drug lord of the south. To say her childhood was different would be an understatement. Despite her father's love and money, all she ever wanted was out. So now she is attending college in West Virgina and is far away from her father and all his dark activities. That is until he gets attacked and they threaten her life. With no idea what they want yet, her father demands her to come home. Not wanting to go back to that life, Gabby refuses. So her father, seeing no other choice, gives her two bodyguards. Louis and Harry are sons of some of her father's connections. Louis is fresh out of the police academy in Austin and Harry was an active and successful underground cage fighter.
Posing as college students, Gabby's father has arranged for them to follow her everywhere. They even managed to get the room right beside her. With the impending threat over her head, they couldn't be too careful. Gabby thinks it is ridiculous. Louis isn't so bad. He is talkative and funny. He is even socially acceptable at parties, which helps him blend in and not draw attention to the fact that he doesn't belong. Harry on the other hand is insufferable. He rarely talks, just stares intensely. When he does speak, it is usually in riddles or to criticize Gabby's life style choices. Gabby can't stand him. So how does he keep ending up in her bed?

I’m not human. I burn everything I touch. Plus I’ve lived in an orphanage most of my life. I’m a trouble maker, and a hot head. Dangerous combination if I do say so myself. The other kids stay away from me. I’m dangerous and they know it. They call me a freak, although they never say it to my face. Understandable I guess. But it is true enough. Having the power to hurt, to destroy and engulf things in flame isn’t something I’d call normal.
I’ve never known what to do with my life, and I never really cared either. I’m not even meant to exist as far as I can tell. I’ve never met anyone else like me. Well not yet at least.
But that all seemed to change on one fateful night. A night I will never forget. A night that changed my life. A night that could lead me to answers I never had.
