Sabrina Giles (sabrina-giles) | 15 comments I have a blog on both Blogger and Wordpress, but sometimes I go back and forth on which I like better. Wordpress.com seems to connect other bloggers more easily, as well as making it easier for you to search for other bloggers by category. I really like that feature, along with the fact that I seem to get more followers, likes, etc. on Wordpress than Blogger. I'm not really sure why this is, but 50 posts on Blogger has earned me 1 follower while my first 6 posts earned me 10 followers on Wordpress.
That's why I kind of left Blogger behind for a long time, but I go back to thinking about it every so often because Wordpress has its flaws too. With Wordpress you have to do an upgrade to upload videos, or at least more than one video, and I can't do any of my giveaways with the rafflecopter widget. I can't post gifs either, so that does limit the kinds of posts I can put on my Wordpress blog, which continuously saddens me because I've been thinking about making video blog posts. Not so with Wordpress.
Sometimes I really want to switch back to Blogger, but the connectivity thing makes me nervous. I don't know if anyone's had the same problem with that as I have, but I would really like to know how bloggers on Blogspot seek out other bloggers in their same category? Or any category? If I'm right in saying the connectivity between bloggers is a little harder than on Wordpress, then I ask how you did it. How did you get all those followers on your Blogspot blog?

Quanah Edwards | 65 comments I've only used Blogger, and I like it...except when it flakes out on me. But for the most part, it's good.

I've guest posted on a couple WordPress blogs, and I didn't like the structure for posting. Buuut, this was about 2 years ago, so things may have changed since then.

Ottilie (ottilie_weber) | 100 comments These two seem to be the two biggies that people have. I started out on blogger on convenience, the couple of hiccups I've had I figured every technology has its flaws, but I haven't left. Like you I'm afraid to switch because I already have so much on my current blog to switch.

Alberta Ross (authorshow4506833alberta_ross) | 9 comments I run both - increasingly having problems with blogger and wonder if it is because I haven't tied it up with google + yet although they keep suggesting it - I have my videos on that one haven't tried loading video onto wordpress yet - I like wordpress and wordpress blogs do seem to be easier to comment on - but as I say maybe just the google+ bit- am reluctant to close blogger down though - dont like all the eggs in one basket!

Heather Heffner | 10 comments interesting observation about the follower count on Wordpress. I used to have a Wordpress account, but then most of my friends used Blogger, so I started dedicating all of my time to Blogger. It feels like it works well... Newbie question: does anyone know if you can customize each page you have on your blog to have a different layout, background image?

message 9: by Never Never (new)

Never Never Land (nvrnvrldreviews) I used Blogger for years but I did have the hardest time finding followers. WordPress was so much easier for me to use and I have been able to connect to so many more bloggers than on Blogger. I haven't shut down my old blog but I am pretty sure I am not going back.

Sabrina Giles (sabrina-giles) | 15 comments I opened up my own topic on the subject "Blogger vs. Wordpress" on a couple other groups to see what other people think about my specific situation and was told by one person that the SEO on Blogger is better, but she didn't explain exactly how it's better. She also said that most of her followers come from on Goodreads and most of her views are from here also as well as Google searches.
She said views are much more important than followers, which when you think about it, she is correct. Just because you have followers, doesn't mean they're going to be loyal and read every one of your posts, comment and like them. Some people may follow and then never come back because they forgot, or something like that. So I do agree about that, but on the flip-side, having followers is important too, not only to the blogger's self esteem (or at least to me). It shows new visitors (potential followers) that you have people who think your stuff is worth reading and staying with.
Both are important, but with Wordpress it's true it's easier. In a way, Wordpress allows you to gather followers, get likes, shares, etc. while being kind of lazy. All I really have to do is post and I usually get 1-2 followers and a couple more likes. I also share my posts on my facebook page as well as on my Tumblr blog, Twitter, and my blog link here on my Author Page. I've been in kind of a blogging/writing slump so that's been working well for me, but still, I'm thinking about making the change. I'm going to do an experiment where I set up my blog on Blogger and see what happens while still maintaining my Wordpress blog.
I may make the switch, I may keep both blogs just 'cause. We'll see!

Camy (camytang) I've used both Blogger and Wordpress since I belong to a few Wordpress group blogs, and I have to say I prefer Blogger. it's just easier to use for me. I'm also in the process of having my blog publish to my website which is supposed to help SEO rankings. I'm just not sure if trackback pings will still work or if the links will be broken when I switch. However, if I'm not mistaken, I think I still have the blogspot.com address so the links shouldn't be broken.

Garrison Kelly (cybador) If I had to choose between Blogger and Wordpress, I'd choose Blogger because of its simplicity. You just post an entry, put in some keywords, and let the views come rolling in. Unfortunately, I don't have enough views or followers to be considered for AdSense revenue. Is there a certain mark blogs have to pass in order to earn money?

That's exactly all I have to do with my Wordpress blog, but when I do the same on Blogger, nothing happens. I've just started my experiment, and I'm already still leaning towards Wordpress. I'm not going to stop going though, because I need to make sure beyond the shadow of a doubt that Wordpress is better.
