Mattie | 4 comments Ok I'm really upset that tris died right at the end of allegiant. I really want to email Veronica Roth and ask her why she did that because I mean I love Tobias and everything but Tris was the MAIN character and Roth made the main character die I think it would have been more dramatic if Tobias died because so many girls absolutely love him (basically all my friends) I'm just really bummed out and disappointed and I just had to let that out.

message 2: by [deleted user] (new)

When I read the first page I knew that either Tris or Tobias would die, but I thought it would be Tobias. It never crossed my mind that Tris would die.
I'm also sad that Uriah died, he's one of my favorite characters.

message 3: by cindy ♡ (new)

cindy ♡ Tris dying was very sad, but Veronica did it so that she stays true to her character. Tris learns how being brave and selfless are similar in a way so her sacrificing herself made sense. I'm upset because I don't wait Tobias to end up with someone else. THERE WERE SUPPOSE TO BE FOURTRIS BABIES!!

The thought of Tobias and Christina getting together has crossed my mine though...I wouldn't be happy because he ONLY DESERVES TRIS, but it makes sense.

Abigail | 290 comments I don't think Christina and Tobias will get together

message 5: by Lara (new)

Lara (larak127) | 8 comments Four would not just move on from Tris and go with another girl IT ISN'T FAIR!

message 6: by Abigail (new)

Abigail | 290 comments Ya. I feel like, no matter how sad, Tris was the only one right for Four. Even though I'm sure it would make Four happy, I hate the idea of Four ever getting together with anybody after Tris. And I really don't think he would. Tris was the one person who he could trust and was strong and like him

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

Well, after reading the last two or so pages, it seems likely that Four is moving on.

message 8: by Kaity (new)

Kaity (i-love-books-because-reasons) I totally agree! That ending was NOT okay! In my opinion you should never ever kill off your main character! I'm not the only person who thinks this right? We've been through so much with Tris, so when she died it was like losing a good friend. And since I'm a huge Fourtris shipper I'm freaking ticked. It also felt like the whole book leads you to think that it's going to have a different ending. Then Uriah died and my heart broke even more. Out of all my favorite characters only two or three lived. I'm so tempted to write my own ending, it would, it will make feel better.

message 9: by cindy ♡ (new)

cindy ♡ In my head, Tobias and Tris will ALWAYS be together :)

message 10: by Abigail (new)

Abigail | 290 comments Even though it made me really sad, I understand why Tris died. So Tris was a extremely strong heroine, and the reality is that in order for her to save everyone, she had to die. If you remember, in the first book, she asked her mom "am I done yet?" and she said no. But in allegiant, after she'd fought and fought, her mom said she was done. The ending showed that life isn't always perfect and Tris final learned the true meaning of self sacrifice. Veronica Roth said that she kept trying to think of a different ending, but Tris dying was the only way. What Veronica did was brave, just like Tris. So even though I cried a ton, I accept why Tris had to die

message 11: by Abigail (new)

Abigail | 290 comments Ya, I love thinking of if Tris wasn't actually dead and I imagine their reunion:)

message 12: by Abigail (new)

Abigail | 290 comments And ya, the last few pages made it sort of seem like he was moving on, but I think it was just saying that he'd be okay, and how friends could help. But I don't think he'll ever move on, Tris was his person ;(

message 13: by Erin (new)

Erin Vastag If Tris didn't die It would have been totally unrealistic. Yeah maybe she could survive the death serum, but there is no way David wouldn't have killed her. If she didn't die you would all be complaining that it was unrealistic. I personally was sad about the ending, but after thinking about I now love it!

message 14: by Olivia (new)

Olivia | 93 comments Tobias did say "I'm okay, it's hard it always will be" tris will always be in his heart!

message 15: by Stormy (new)

Stormy :) (Stormy0218) | 1043 comments Without Tris' death one of the major conflicts would've been left unresolved. It would have been out of character if she didn't. Veronica Roth posted a whole explanation on why she did it on her blog.

Can you post a link to the explanation?

message 17: by Laine (new)

Laine Parker | 1 comments I believe Tobias will never truly get over tris. But I believe that he might still find another girl. I feel like Tris would want him to find someone else to love him like she did. But Tris will always be in his heart.

message 18: by Emma (last edited Jan 05, 2014 02:56PM) (new)

Emma (flyinggeese74) I agree! Why build a character for 3 years & then kill them off!? But without it, I agree, we all would've been wondering why she didn't.

message 19: by cindy ♡ (new)

cindy ♡ Tris dying was necessary. It was sad but it really contributed to the story as a whole.

message 20: by Bella (new)

Bella Holmes (bellaholmes) | 10 comments okay so I loved Tris like a sister. I balled when she died... but I balled harder for some reason when I read the part about Tobias moving on with his life... No offense to Tris but I'm glad Tobias is still living. Tris died in the way every dauntless wants too. Bravely.

message 21: by Stormy (new)

Stormy :) (Stormy0218) | 1043 comments I'm technologically impaired so I have no idea how to post a link but type into Google Veronica Roth and her blog should come up and the post is the second or third one from the top

Abigail, I could not have said it better myself! Tris was born to be selfless, and she died being selfless. She was perfect in every-way possible. Brave, beautiful, and truly amazing. She did everything to save those around her, and for a character that great, we must be grateful. HERE IS TO TRIS, THE BEST FREAKING CHARACTER. EVER.

readeraz (zoethereader) | 405 comments By the way if you liked/loved the book. Or maybe you are still trying to get over Tris... here is my review for it. I really spent my time working on this, and I hope that this helps some people that are mourning Tris.

Kasey Mcquitty | 16 comments I was so sad because you know Caleb was kinda good, kinda bad and all, but i dont think that tris should have died for him. That was like terrible.m

message 29: by Kasey (new)

Kasey Mcquitty | 16 comments And Uriah dying was soooo sad. I thought that he would make it.

message 30: by Beverly (new)

Beverly Rose | 2 comments I can't believe Tris died... Don't get me wrong, I loved the book, but I was really disappointed with the ending. I did expect Tris to be immune to the death serum, but didn't expect her to be shot. I love happy endings, because we don't usually don't get them in reality. I was hoping to get one from the divergent series.

message 31: by Erin (new)

Erin Vastag If the ending was a happy ending, I feel like it would have left me wanting more. I would have known that there could be more to the story so I would have forever been waiting for another book. This is a solid end. There is not much more that could happen.

message 32: by Beverly (new)

Beverly Rose | 2 comments Tris saved her community. That was a good ending, maybe the author should have fast forwarded to when Tris and Tobias were old in age or something like that.

message 33: by Kelly (new)

Kelly I'm sorry to say I didn't like Allegiant as much as the first two books in the series and not just cos tris died, It just didn't have the same feel of action and bravery. This is just my opinion though :) I do understand why tris died but why Uriah? He was the best character in the book to me :)

message 34: by Olivia (new)

Olivia | 93 comments I actually think I liked allegiant more than insurgent. Divergent will always be my favorite book out of the trilogy though. In allegiant tris was just so confident and brave and selfish and wise! She wasn't reckless like was in insurgent.

message 35: by Kelly (new)

Kelly I get where your coming from :) Divergent is definitely the best book of them all, no doubt about that

Maybe there will be another book were Veronica Roth is like PSYCH!! Tris isn't dead. We just told Tobias she was to protect them both.

message 38: by ʟ ᴀ ᴜ ʀ ᴀ (last edited Jan 18, 2014 07:29PM) (new)

ʟ ᴀ ᴜ ʀ ᴀ That would be AWESOME!!!!!!!! I keep pretending she isn't dead, she's just gone or hiding or something!

message 39: by Stormy (new)

Stormy :) (Stormy0218) | 1043 comments What if Tris faked her own death :o

message 40: by Olivia (new)

Olivia | 93 comments Oh my god that'd be crazy!
Okay I have to ask this:
Do you guys think four and tris did it because I could not tell at all?

message 41: by Kelly (new)

Kelly They did in the 'hotel' room on the couch. I know it was made very obvious haha :)

message 42: by Kelly (new)

Kelly *wasn't made very obvious :)

message 43: by [deleted user] (new)

Shailene Woodley, who stars as Tris in the Divergent series, has spoken out about the major plot twist of the ending Veronica Roth wrote into Allegiant, the final book in the trilogy!!
And she TOTALLY supports her writing!

She said:
“I was stoked. I thought that it was such a badass decision of Veronica Roth, and so incredibly powerful. I love that she didn’t sort of buy into… the outline of what’s happened in previous young adult books. Men die all the time in films – heroes do. But a lot of sweet heroines don’t. And so I thought it was a very powerful, profound decision on her part. And I really love that she had the courage and the bravery to do that.”

message 44: by Kelly (new)

Kelly I like that <3 :)

message 45: by Erin (new)

Erin Vastag Me too. Totally dauntless of Veronica!

OH MY GOSH! That would be the best thing ever. But, sadly, I do not think it is going to happen... :(

message 47: by Amanda (new)

Amanda | 30 comments I was really glad that tris went in for caleb, i mean, i was like "what!? NO!" but then i realized she had to, especially because of what she thought right before, "i would never deliver you to your own execution" but at the time, I really really wanted her to live, for something to happen, her wake up, live, just something, but i realize now it would have become cheesy if that happened, she wakes up, they make out and live happily ever after, no, she had to die, its horrible and sad and i balled my eyes out reading it, but it made the book better.
I also like that when she was almost executed at the erudite head corders she said "im not done yet" and when she dies in allegiant she asks her mom "am i done yet?" And she says yes, i think that really completes it, along with tobias explaining the meaning behind her saying "i didnt want to leave you" it wasnt just a i love u an will miss you, it had so so much more meaning behind it, and it was speacial to me.
Anyways sorry this is long, i have even more to say but nobody's gonna finnish it as it is, i just have a lot to say about the topic, I'm still mourning her death, its hard, i loved her and tobias and the divergent series and im glad the book played out the way it did, veronica is an AMAZING writer and i thank her for her talent and, vision and imagination <3 <3
