Lindsey (liinukka) | 185 comments Happy New Year!

We're in 2014 already...hard to believe. Do you have any reading goals set for this year? Share them with us!

- Minimum number of books you want to read?
- New genre you want to explore?
- An author/series you've been meaning to try?
- A book you'd like to revist?
- New book formats (ebook, audio) to try?

I'd like to give Wheel of Time series another go. I tried getting into The Eye of the World this year but kind of backed out after about 50 pages. It seemed so daunting at the time.

I would love to re-read The Great Book of Amber, especially the second half of the series on Merlin.

I also want to read some novels in Japanese. It's always a bit a challenge, but a good learning process. I'll possibly start with Jenosaido (Genocide).

Becki-boop | 7 comments Wow! I couldn't imagine reading a book in Japanese, I bet its a challenge.

As for a reading resolution, I would love to be able to set some time out in the day to read perhaps in the morning or before bed. I don't tend to read as much when university life kicks in so reading regularly will be a bit of a challenge also! It might keep me on top of reading for my course as well, which is always a bonus. Also, I think reading several books or at least two will be a challenge.

Happy New Year everybody :)

Taryn (taryn_fry) | 169 comments I'd like to make some progress in crossing off books in my "to read" notebook, it's getting a bit out of control

I'd also like to see if I can beat my 2013 Year in Books total ;-)

Mati (matrosero) | 1 comments Ha! I'm also planning to (re)read The Wheel of Time this year.

I started reading them when only the first two books were out and kept up religiously until the prologue of book 9, at which point I lost interest. Anyway, now that the series is finished I want to reread the whole thing. Already finished The Eye of the World.

Angela (anreads) | 54 comments Oooh, I've heard good things about the Wheel of Time series. I hope you can meet your goal of reading it :)!

I've been using Goodreads' Reading Challenge widget thing as a challenge and a reminder to read more when I can, and every year I've upped my goal bit by bit. This year is 60 books, so fingers crossed on that! Something I've also wanted to do for a while is to choose books at random from my "To Read" shelf on here. There's probably a lot of stuff I've forgotten I've added, so it will be fun to see what comes up.

Lindsey (liinukka) | 185 comments Yeah, I noticed you were reading Eye of the World! ;)

If you're on a re-read, it must be good...

And yeah, I want to pare down on my to-read list as well. Though I keep adding to it, which isn't helping!
