Lucy Omg!! I just finished reading Mockingjay and i am practically pouring my eyes out! I don't know what to think. Happy, Sad, Angry!?!?!

Jennifer Harris It's complicated.

Kenneth A Baldwin For serious. I put the book down and could hardly go to sleep. I've been thinking about it for days. It left me craving more information about what happened. But I guess the story is about Katniss and not the whole war so the fragmented bits of information we get are just like the fragmented bits of her healing mind.

Jennifer Harris I really wish the epilogue had been longer:/ a page and a half was not NEARLY enough.

I know! and there was so many things she needed to explain like Gale!!!!

Jennifer Harris Ikr!?!?? Like, seriously!! All that love triangle drama and all we get is a lame "he's some kind of military bigwig" !?!?!? And how she just made Katniss mom never come back... Ugh. I didn't like that woman anyway but it still bothers me.

Kristine Re. Gale.

I saw this in a blog. I thought it was a brilliant pick-up. I had missed it.

It's when Katniss, Gale and the propos team visit the lake.

"When I come back around to the little concrete house beside the lake, I pause in the doorway and see Gale propping the crooked poker he salvaged against the wall by the hearth. For a moment I have an image of a lone stranger, sometime far in the future, wandering lost in the wilderness and coming upon this small place of refuge, with the pile of split logs, the hearth, the poker. Wondering how it came to be." (Mockingjay)

That lone stranger is likely Gale. A 'stranger' because he's no longer known to Katniss. Or because he doesn't bear any resemblance to the person he was when he was there so long ago.

Perhaps he's in District 12 on official business and he takes the opportunity to visit old haunting grounds. It seems he didn't visit Katniss and Peeta although he'd know where they live. Perhaps he tried to and he can't. He's 'lost in the wilderness' because life for him hasn't gone as he'd planned. Regret, maybe for how things worked out? When he was there last time it had started to go sour between Katniss and Gale and marked a turning point in their relationship. They had quarreled when Gale didn't tell Katniss about Peeta's TV appearance.

Jennifer Harris Ah, that is a good tidbit! I never caught it.
