Jess Myname | 155 comments I think it was 2 maybe 1 she moved in with. In my mind I am picturing tall skinny houses like in san Francisco but I think it was some small random town. I remember her walking home from a party at night in the dark. There is a man (?) evil of some kind that follows her and she can feel or sees him. She has a hard time adjusting to school. she figures out that she is being followed or watched almost all the time (if I remember right) I don't remember if she has magic or not, just that she finds out the aunts do.

It is not Sabrina the teenage Witch thought I do love her :)

I don't remember when I read this book years ago is as good as I can do on that one sorry. maybe as maney as 5+ years ago.

I got the book at the library

Thanks for any suggestions you all can give me. I will keep searching as well but mostly I just come up with Practical Magic, and Sabrina

PJ (peejaytaylor) | 19 comments By any chance is this Alice Hoffman's Practical Magic?

"When the beautiful and precocious sisters Sally and Gillian Owens are orphaned at a young age, they are taken to a small Massachusetts town to be raised by their eccentric aunts, who happen to dwell in the darkest, eeriest house in town. As they become more aware of their aunts' mysterious and sometimes frightening powers -- and as their own powers begin to surface -- the sisters grow determined to escape their strange upbringing by blending into "normal" society."

Jess Myname | 155 comments Thank you PJ but that is not the book... looks like a good read though.

I thought about the book some more last night. I am not positive that this is the cover of the book or just an image from my imagination but I picture a yellow and a Victorian-ish house or houses set on a bit of a hill. Like I said don't know if that is reality or my imagination. But I picture a lot of hills when I think about this book. The school is at the bottom of the hill in my brain.

I also feel like the fist day of school she asked to be dropped off a few blocks from the school. I get the feeling that her clothing was different like the weather or style where she lived before is different than what the kids at this school are warring and she is very aware of that.

When the man/evil is following her I think she runs thgouth a cemitary/park/ally something like that. She runs more than one time. I also remember her being at a girlfrends house and peeking out the widow looking for the man. And the friend keeps asking what she is doing. She has a hard time convincing anyone that she is realy being followed.

Aerulan | 1316 comments Is this one a kid's book? I can't tell from your description. Chapter or picture, if it was?
Or maybe something for teens/YA?

Jess Myname | 155 comments Sorry it forgot that part. It is a teen book

Maybe Witch - which was recently re-released as a two-in-one Wicked: Witch & Curse.

Jess Myname | 155 comments Thank you for the suggestion but that is not the book I am looking for.

In the book I am looking for the girl and her aunt are the only 2 living in the house.

Thank you for your help

Jess, if we don't ID it right away, just come back every month or two and bump the thread back to the top of the queue. To do that, just type bump or something into the comment box.

Jess Myname | 155 comments thank you Ann I will try to remember that :)

Jess, I have all the web addresses saved for my unknown threads. Plus I have a reminder set up on my calendar program. That way, I just go in, click on each of the links and type Bump in to get them back to the top of the queue. Work smarter, not harder, as my grandkids are always telling me. :o)

message 13: by Jess (new) - rated it 4 stars

Jess Myname | 155 comments I don't use an electronic calendar but I do like the idea of putting a reminder in my calendar. You are full of great tips.

Jess Myname | 155 comments Ok I am pretty sure it was just one aunt that she moves I with. It is driving me crazy that I can't remember much else. I remember it being night quite a bit her walking down the street feeling like she was being followed. Off to search some more

message 20: by Tab (new)

Tab (tabbrown) | 5084 comments A stretch, as I don't think there is any magic, but Double Identity Double Identity by Margaret Peterson Haddix

Jess, was this book more fantasy, suspense, horror, or something else? Do you remember if the girl had any sidekicks/friends?

Any other fantasy elements like, trolls, spells, dragons, etc?

message 21: by Jess (new) - rated it 4 stars

Jess Myname | 155 comments Sounds like an interesting book but that is not it.
I remember only one girl friend. Most of the images from my memory are at night with someone watching her. I remember her closing curtains at the friends house because she feels like she is being watched. That happens during the day after school. I see a park or a grave yard that she is chased through.

I don't remember it being supper magical more like quiet differences.

Do you ever wonder I'd the book you are looking for was really a dream you once had? Lol

Jess that's been said on a LOT of threads. But we usually succeed in finding the book--eventually.

message 36: by Jess (new) - rated it 4 stars

Jess Myname | 155 comments Joann,

That book sounds the most like my book, I checked with the library and they don't have anything by that author... Since I got the book originally from the library I don't think that is my book, but I am still going to try and get my hands on a copy. Thank-you for the suggestion

message 37: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (drokka) | 211 comments This might be a bit of a stretch, but does your library keep records of the books you borrow? Could you ask them if they remember this book?

Libraries do remove books from their inventories, so don't let that be a factor. I've discovered that at least twice trying to identify books I know I have checked out in the past, but were no longer available from the library.

message 40: by Jess (new) - rated it 4 stars

Jess Myname | 155 comments Ok let's see

It is not fallen I am sure I found and extremely details review I am pretty sure gave aways all the plot twists in the book :)

I did ask the library if they keep those records they don't only what you currently have out.

The librarian did mention that they do move books out after time I found this out because I am waiting for a book I read once before, last time I read it the library had 20 now they have one in the whole county silly if you ask me. But they where able to find out that they do not and have not carried books by the author of fallen.

She had to move because something happens to her parents I don't remember exactly but I think it is a job out of the country or something like that I don't think they passed away. I have a vage memory of her arguing with her mom about the move via the phone .

Thanks for your help everyone
