Shooting for 75 new books this year, not including consistent re-reads. I exceeded last year's goal by almost 20 books - we'll see how this year goes!

I set my goal for 150 books. I am already up to 22 so far so I think I can make it. I have a LOT of free time and not so much into TV.
Hmmm, I honestly have no idea how many books I read last year. According to Goodreads, it was 9, but I don't think that's accurate as I don't always update the list with completion dates. I am already on #2 for the year so but I think I will keep it relatively easy and realists at 30. I have more than that just sitting at home waiting for me to read. My goal would be to get through most of what I have and play catch up now that school is over with :)Current: City of Ashes
Night-stand stacks:
On the Road
Everything Is Illuminated
Up Close and Incredibly Loud
Dark Tower Series books 5-7
Galapagos
Magical Thinking
When You Are Engulfed in Flames
Eat, Pray, Love
As I Lay Dying
The Lost Symbol (Robert Langdon, #3)
Catch-22
Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
Several of the True Blood Series that I haven't even started yet
I've set my goal for 40 books this year. I came really close to making my goal last year but failed by 3 books. This year will be a challenge because I gave birth just 2 short months ago. I'm wondering if I should count the tiny children's books I read to my son. Best of luck to everyone this year!
My goal this year is 100. I've done 20 already. I did 375 last year, but had no time to do anything else so I'm taking it easy this year.
Ive never set a goal before, so I decided to set it at 100 this yr. Jan i read 8 so im starting off good
I've set it to 70 this year, but since I already read 11 in january, I'm thinking of increasing it. Maybe even to a hundred! :)
Denisa: 208 books is an amazing goal! I really hope you get the chance to complete it! And please let us know if there are any you LOVE!Wyrmie: Feel free to count any and all of the books you read, children's titles including. A book is a book, a story is a story :)
Michelle: A book a week is a great goal!
I, myself, have read 14 books so far this year (so about two per week) and am very much enjoying some new titles such as "Fangirl" by Rainbow Rowell and "Watchers" by Dean Koontz. Plus my new series addiction: The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer. I flew thru the first two and am anxiously awaiting the library delivery of the third. It's smart and witty, classic and futuristic all in one package!
Keep going, Challengers! The sky is the limit :)
My goal is to read at least a 100 books this year. If I cross it, great but 100 I want to complete!!
Can I get some progress updates? What great new books have y'all been reading? What did you love? Was there a book that you didn't love and thought you would or vice versa?
For me, I'm not normally a trend follower but since I heard mixed things about "The Fault in Our Stars," I decided to give it a go. And I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it, which is an odd thing to say about a book that made me cry. It was witty and fun but also a little dark and morbid. The main characters had wonderful interactions and unexpected personalities that made the book far less depressing than the Nicholas Sparks type novel that I anticipated.
I can't wait to read something else by Green, I think I will try "Paper Towns" next.
I'm 3 books behind but pushing for that 100 books goal!
We're almost halfway done the year. How is everyone else doing?
My challenge says I'm six books ahead of schedule- but I set a goal of 35 books and have had more free time than I anticipated when I originally set my goal. However I will only up my goal if and/or when I pass my original goal. Then and only then will I think about upping it and by how much.
I've read 25 of 50 and it says I'm 6 books ahead of schedule. I really liked American Gods and Ghost Story but otherwise it's kind of been an "eh" year so far.
I have read 37 out of 45 books this year! That's amazing to me since up until a year ago I didn't have time to read my mail. I can't believe I am ahead of schedule. I think my top favorites this year so far are A Song of Ice and Fire #1-4: A Game of Thrones/A Clash of Kings/A Storm of Swords/A Feast for Crows and Hyperbole and a Half: Unfortunate Situations, Flawed Coping Mechanisms, Mayhem, and Other Things That Happened
Read 18 out of 40 books.. 3 ahead of scheduleFinally took a plunge into Russian Literature and it just blew me away!! Extremely gratifying year so far :)
My goal is 150 and I believe I have read 100 and something of those so far so I hope I can make that or more
I've read 14 out of my 35 books for the year, but I'm also in the middle of 7 or so books. I may have to up my challenge number.
I have 40 books, but I am already at 50% and haven't updated my 'read' books for a few weeks... Thinking I may go for 100 instead!
Goal is 100 I have read around 50, whew! I need to add a few to my read list before I take them back to the library so that will go up. I guess for next year I need to challenge myself more ha ha.
I challenged myself to read 200 books this year. I'm not sure how I'm going to juggle that considering my workload. But bring it on! :)
Right now my goal is 50 but I'm almost finished and it's only been half a year so I'll probably change it and shoot for 100 :)
22 out of 100 books read so far this year for me. Slow and steady so far.
I'm really far behind at 44 out of 125. That was my goal last year and I finished the year with 127. I suspect I won't finish at 125. Oh well, I'm still reading a lot of really good books this year.
17 out of 50 so far..4 books behind schedule :O hopefully I'll have more time to read once exams are over
My goal is 50, since it's my very first reading challenge, and I've read 18 so far. I'm a little off track so I'll read more books this month, maybe then I'll be able to increase my books reading challenge.
I'm going for 50, but I didn't start until about a month ago!
My goal is to read 50 books this year - up from 30 last year.According to goodreads I'm 2 books behind schedule (better than 7 books behind schedule in May)
I am currently at 63 out of 100. That is, according to Goodreads, 20 books ahead. However between the Holidays and the fact that we are expecting two new grandchildren this fall reading will take a back seat later this year. 100 is probably an accurate number.
Amazing work everyone!! Keep it up!I just finished book number 43 out of my goal of 100 for the year and I have to admit I wasn't all that impressed with that choice: The Magicians by Lev Grossman. Not the best book despite the rave reviews it received.
I'm open to suggestions. Anything you all are reading and loving?
WOOOOOOOOOO Over halfway done the year and over halfway done with my book goal!!I'm at 60 out of 100 books and as I will starting school again in the fall, I'm hoping to read 70 before classes start. How is everyone else doing?
And for those of you keeping track, so far we have a total goal of over 6,000 books!! Way to push the boundaries everyone!
Books I've loved:
Horns by Joe Hill
Holidays on Ice by David Sedaris
Illusion by Sherrilyn Kenyon (Chronicles of Nick series)
Ripper by Stefan Petrucha
And if you're not reading the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer, get on that!!
