SOLVED. book about the day to day life of a mentaly handicapt man told from his view point [s]

He works in an office that employs a number or mentally handicap people. They have an area with a trampoline for them to use to clear there minds and calm down. He works with numbers. He is part of a jousting (sp?) club (sword fighting)Keeps the same schedule each week. the author is someone who has a son like the man in the book and is trying to help us see into his world. He falls in love with someone in his club.

Sorry that is about all I can remember. I read the book a couple of years ago.

That is totally the book I was looking for. When I first clicked on your link I thought no this is not the one... then I started reading and when I scrolled far enough down the screen the alternate covers popped up and that is when I was sure. Looks like I did come across it in my searching but the cover was wrong so in my brain it just did not fit. The one I read had the cover with the pinwheel on it. thanks you so much for your help. Man are you speedy :)
