I am sailing on the high seas with Jack Aubrey and Stephen Maturin. I just finished Desolation Island and Master and Commander. I just started Post Captain but I see that it is set mostly in England and France. Ar, Maties!
Just arrived in PARIS, which I can't seem to pull the link for. This is older, by Edward Rutherfurd.
I've landed in Afghanistan - started the audio of The Dressmaker of Khair Khana: Five Sisters, One Remarkable Family, and the Woman Who Risked Everything to Keep Them Safe.
I am in China in 1960's during Mao's so called cultural revolution through
A every interesting read, highly recommended if you are interested in chinese culture & history.
I could not get hold of a copy of the book I intended to read for the island of Réunion, so may be forced to read one by Michel Houellebecq. In the meantime I will read The Land Without Shadows or Le pays sans ombre by Abdourahman A. Waberi for Djibouti.
I'm in the Democratic Republic of Congo with King Leopold's Ghost: A Story of Greed, Terror and Heroism in Colonial Africa.
Heading to Fiji and Vanuatu with Getting Stoned with Savages: A Trip Through the Islands of Fiji and Vanuatu. Listening to the audio - I love Simon Vance as a narrator.

Looks interesting Judy - haven't read one set in the Dominican Republic - on my TBR list now. Be curious on your take when you're done.

Judy wrote: "Although, I am not counting it for the challenge, I am in the Dominican Republic with The Feast of the Goat."I have read that one and I thought it was a good book, although not a comfortable read. (I did not count it towards the challenge either.)
I'm still in Paris and nearly done, but also side tripping in Belgium this one on CD. Well read and interesting so far.
Bonnie - I've been debating whether to put this one on my TBR list but haven't so far since it's rated 3.59. Would be interested in your thoughts when you're finished it.
I gave this one four stars, Lilisa. I loved the whole story of RLS - interesting life, and I learned a lot, which is always a big plus in my book.
Headed to Spain with Guernica. Also reading - but not for this challenge - The Witness Wore Red: The 19th Wife Who Brought Polygamous Cult Leaders to Justice.

Dear Daughter=Amanda"
Too funny! I did think of Amanda because of book recommends between the both of you and but didn't relate the DD :-). Well, I'm glad Amanda liked it!

I'm currently in Ireland with Booking Passage: We Irish and Americans and loving it! Lynch's prose is so lyrical and moving, and his memoir (I think) will touch a chord in most people.

:-)
:-)
I was in Albania with Chronicle in Stone, and now I am headed to Morocco with Stolen Lives: Twenty Years in a Desert Jail
Sara - Stolen Lives: Twenty Years in a Desert Jail sounds interesting - added it to my TBR list. How did you like Chronicle in Stone?
Lilisa - I'm planning on starting the The Almond Tree this week too. Will be interested in what you think.
Lilisa wrote: "Sara - Stolen Lives: Twenty Years in a Desert Jail sounds interesting - added it to my TBR list. How did you like Chronicle in Stone?"I was not Wow with it & gave it 3 stars because of it's literature value!

Sara - likewise, I gave it 3 stars as well, although it was a struggle.

Jan - fingers crossed that you'll enjoy it as well. Will be interested in your update when you get to it.

My Australian muse has me curious about the book she just finished, so I am slipping back into Spain to read The Shadow of the Wind.
My chicken is Australian, and named after a muse (Aiode), so you obviously mean her but I didn't realise she was into literature and pinching my books. I guess that's what happens when I put Bronte sisters shreddings in the coop.
Haha!
I realised I actually forgot to tell you guys what I made my friends and I for Christmas:
The other friend got the complete Ray Bradbury. I made myself one out of the complete Oscar Wilde

I was envisioning that we would all rock up to a wedding or something with cool literary clutches. But then have realised all the friends we have that may get married have already... I'm sure another occasion with arise.
Why wait for a friend's wedding, create an occasion - it's all about showing off the clutches! :-)
lol or more importantly, showing off the books! SO yes, why my chickens are sleeping on Brontes, Bradbury and Wilde.
Great craft project! Worth keeping an eye out for similar volumes at garage sales and used book stores.
