Cucumberpatch is my nickname for Benji, I give everyone nicknames. It's an addiction!!!
;-P
If I had had a son I would have liked to have called him Mycroft.Last night's episode was good. More cohesive than the first - and very funny
Excellent character driven episode last night. Also good to see that Dean from Harry Potter has managed to find work post-Hogwarts.
Loved last nights episode. Going to have to watch it again to catch the bits I'm sure that I missed first time round.Hate that there's only 3 episodes...there should be at least 6 to a series...s'not fair!
Philip (sarah) wrote: "Brilliant show! Disappointed he didn't do a Travolta dance at the end."Is a "Travolta dance" a euphemism for how ageing Hollywood stars prefer their massages?
Gonna have to bah humbug everybody, but I watched it, and I object to my licence fee being wasted on this claptrap! So there! :)Honestly, I could not see what the fuss was about.
Only just watched the first ep. Quite enjoyable, although there seemed to be rather a lot of filler and not very much actual plot. As for impossible tube journeys etc, many years of Morse & Lewis being clearly unable to navigate around Oxford have made me immune.I enjoyed the Jonny Lee Miller series (back when I had Sky), at least until the plane crash one, when it just lost all credibility. I mean, Seriously??? Did they do NO research at all???
Watched them both now, and quite enjoyed them, but, but, but...It's probably a sign of old age (sigh), but sometimes the exchanges between Holmes and Watson are so quick, and BC's delivery is so rapid, I find myself missing half of the 'plot'. Twice in the 2nd episode I had to ask Sir to 'run it back', cos I missed stuff or couldn't hear it.
It's over!!!I'm both happy and sad, I have a feeling I'm going to be re-watching the series over and over until the next ones out. I hope I don't have to wait 2 years for the next one!!!
There were some big surprises in the last episode, it really ended with a bang. If I had to choose a favourite bit, I think it would be the final exchange between Sherlock and Mycroft!!!
Brilliant episode!Never fear D.D. they are hoping to produce a Christmas special so only 11 months to wait.
The Timeshift Documentary on BBC4 How to Be Sherlock Holmes-The Many Faces of a Master Detective which followed at 10pm was very informative(Benny Boy was featured D.D.)

I missed it!

By all means prepare to cast your stones at my heretical body, but I really cannot be bothered with any reboot or reconceptualsing of something that has come before.

For me, the definite Holmes portrayal on screen will always be 'The Private life of Sherlock Holmes.'
Great film. Would recommend it to any Holmes fan. Christopher Lee's in it!
Best wedding speech in television history - and there've been quite a few. Even better than Rowan Atkinson's Father of the Bride speech.
I thought Moriarty had a screw loose, but this villain?!! O really enjoyed the last episode, especially the bit in the office which was cleverly done. I can't wait for the next series!!!!
I've been gobbling this down over the past couple weeks.Just finished the wedding episode.
WHAT A GREAT SERIES!

I can't BELIEVE I've got to wait eleven months for the next one!!!

I loved Sherlock having a girlfriend - so clever that they were both using each other. However -QUESTION - I thought Sherlock had asperger's syndrome - but now he's a sociopath - which is right?
I thought the Asperger's was a very clever way of explaining his mental acuity - a bit disappointed if he's a plain, ordinary sociopath (my mother-in-law is a sociopath and not nearly so charismatic as Sherlock)
Been avoiding this thread as been Sky Plussing the episodes and only caught up last night. Well, I thought this series was, in a word, awesome. I have to confess to nearly not continuing with the programme after the very first episode. As a fan of the books, I found it difficult to see past the modern setting that grated on me for the whole of that first episode. So glad I stuck with it. It's become, IMO, one of the best programmes on TV.
Sam - I'm a late adopter of Sherlock. The reason? I didn't think the world needed another adaptation and positivity groaned that it was set in the current day. I was wrong - on both counts.
Grace - I know exactly what you mean and I felt the same way... at first. It's sometimes good to be wrong.

No, you were right on both counts :)
Like nearly everybody on this site, I love my TV dramas, so when you see great stuff from the USA and think, why can't British TV do that, programmes like Sherlock make me groan with despair.
I don't doubt that Sherlock is well acted and produced, but it's too safe, too predictable. Anyway, rant over! :)

In the very first episode someone( I think it was a policewoman) calls Sherlock a psycopath and he corrects them calling himself 'a high functioning sociopath'.

thanks for clarifying. Can't help wondering if Sherlock is wrong about himself. Sociopaths have a personality trait meaning they can make life and death decisions with ruthless clarity, unaffected by emotion (OK, does sound like Sherlock) BUT a condition like Aspergers (based on my general knowledge!)gives the person extraordinary intelligence in certain areas (Sherlock's memory). Just a thought.

Pretty sure theres no p in his name...
