BTW, you did a really great job creating this group. I made one, but its really hard to keep up with everything...

Thank you! I know it is hard. Everyday I have between 60 and 120 emails from people responding in the discussions. I love it though. I'm always proud when people respond more. Sometimes it's hard to think of new discussions to put up though...I actually bought a notebook to keep a list of ideas in. :)

LOL Thats probably a good idea...If you go to the "promotional folder" at the very bottom of my discussion list, you can promote your group...

There is a "suggestion" folder. Otherwise, if your discussion topic falls into one of the other folders you can put it there. If you're confused post it in the "general" folder, and I'll move it to the correct folder for you. :)

My favorite genres are Historical Romance and Young Adult!!
And Zarifina, I completely agree about the happy endings being one of the best parts of HR!!

Hey Angelc! :)

I totally agree about Happy Endings! It is almost a must-have for me. I don't want to get lost in a book for the realism! LOL! I guess that's why I love fantasy so much. I figure if I'm going to suspend disbelief, why not go all the way?!

Thanks for joining Anne! I know what you mean about being addicted to Goodreads! It is my favorite site! :)

I have books everywhere in my house. My children have nearly as many books as I do.
I read most genres but prefer romance, specifically the less steamy ones. I like a dose of realism with my "fantasy" but with actual fantasy books, I like total fantasy, like The Lord of the Rings or Tara K. Harper's Wolfwalker series.

I'm Andrew. I enjoy reading, but prefer audiobooks. I'm a fan of Science fiction & Fantasy. I'm not a fan of mystery, and I hate romance with a "passion". haha get it?

Good to see you have a sense of humor!

I'm a 30 yr old married mother of three kids and I work full time so you'd think I'd be too busy to read. Yet somehow I can finish a book in a couple of days if it's really good.
I'm a "borrower" from the library and my ON HOLD list there is VERY LONG. So is my CHECKED OUT list (told my librarian I'm cutting myself off from the website for awhile).
Hope to get to know you all better!

Elvia wrote: "Hello everyone! I am an avid reader, mostly of urban fantasy but if I can find something that catches my eye I'll read it (hopefully you all can broaden my horizons!).

Hi Elvia! :) I'm glad you joined! :) Do your librarians know you by name? Mine certainly do. LOL I have to bring an extra large bag just to carry all the books home. hehehe

I'm actually in danger of being crushed by books if I walk to close to the piles, so I've gotten a Kindle. Kindle books don't pile up quite the same way!
I read almost anything, the exception being romances, and yes, I HAVE TRIED. Just can't stand them. I can read the manly equivalent (hairy chested men's adventure novels) which have about the same level of quality of writing, and I really enjoy those, but just can't like a romance.
My preferences run toward science fiction, thrillers, mysteries, horror, and sometimes weird and quirky books like those written by Tom Robbins.
Some other favorite authors are Andrew Vachss, Harlan Ellison, Robert Heinlein, and Stephen King.
Hi Stormhawk!
Thanks for joining.
Some people were just not made to enjoy romances...it's good that you seem to like most of the other genres. :)

Welcome Elena! I'm not too keen on books about wars either, and the only way I will read a modern romance is if it's a paranormal romance. LOL So, I can completely relate! :)

I am Ramya and new to Goodreads. I am passionate about reading. I try to read different genres. But fiction always wins the heart!!

I've been a member of GR since last year and I belong to several groups. This group appealed to me because it's not based on one genre. I love that since I'm not exclusive either. I tend to read everything I can get my hands on, however, I seem to have a mental block when it comes to non-fiction.

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has been sending out invites for others to join this group! It's growing quickly, and we have almost reached 150 people! :) The more people in the group, the better the discussions are. :)
Thanks Everyone! :)
Thanks Everyone! :)

Welcome Kristina!
:) Glad you joined. I have a serious problem with buying books, even though I have an entire bookcase filled with books I need to read. LOL It's an addiction. :( The library helps though...
Hopefully, you'll find some books to tempt you...:)

I'm one of those people who can go from Don DeLillo to Star Trek to Ian Rankin to Steven Erikson to Carly Phillips.
Hi Nathaniel! Don't worry we're all pretty well rounded in this group. I am sure you'll fit right in! :)

Nice to see you here! Goodreads is such a great way to find new books! I'm addicted to it myself.
Hi Angela! Isn't it great to have friends who recommend sites like Goodreads? My best friend recommended it to me in the end of December so that's how I discovered it too! :)
