WOW I had no clue this movie was based on that book by Zane!!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdZ0lU...
I'm reading
I absolutely love it... love the heroine love the hero love the side characters this book is all kinds of good :)
Loved
. Heroine is a chef (Chinese) and hero is a hockey player (white). And I don't even like hockey that much. Kate Willoughby has a great series.

I just finished reading Secrets and Sins by Naima Simone Malachim's story and it was so good. I will definitely be reading the other books in this series.

I have had this for a while too. Let me know if it is good.

I read that one a few months ago. It was pretty enjoyable, and it made me want to read more by Nana Malone.
So I just finished reading
and it was good, but wasn't long enough. This is why stay away from novellas. I wish someone could explain to me how you can feel satisfied reading a novella. It also reminded me a lot of
except for the ending. They were so similar I was having flashbacks of reading the The Governor's Sons.
A-W wrote: "I just finished reading Secrets and Sins by Naima Simone Malachim's story and it was so good. I'm assuming she's latino and had I known that going in, I may have felt different. I just hate it when I get hit with it as a surprise. That's not necessarily the author's fault, its just what I got from listings here on the site, so it kinda sucks because I do enjoy this author. I'll likely go back to it at a later date.
Just finished
last night and did my duty with a review this morning.
Ren wrote: "So I just finished reading

Like if I know I've only got TODAY to read something while still doing housework, fixing meals, that kinda thing. Some days, I look forward to getting back into a real book, but others, I want the feel good pay off ending without having to wait for it. Doesn't happen often LOL. But those are the only times I intentionally read novellas. In the past, they were always a surprise until I got used to looking at page counts before clicking. Nasty suprises. LOL!
@Savannah yes the heroine is Latino I thought in the beginning it was BW/WM IR read. In the beginning it was very vague but after the first few chapters it was finally mentioned the heroine was Latino. I'm like you BW/WM is my personal preference in the IR genre to read however I have read a few other types. This story was really good and I do plan on reading the series in it's entirety but I don't believe any of the heroines in this series are black the details are so vague it is really hard to tell.

Hahaha that's true but if it is good then I get a bit sad that it is over. No doubt though I read both of her books and they were both good. I guess I just wanted more of their journey to love.
Ren- isn't that the bestbAND worst part?! lol...I love being so caught up in a good read that you literally feel like you are losing touch with this couple you are some how a part of. I get all sentimental on the last page. I'd like to think there is an alternate reality out there where the characters of every great love story ever wtitten exist living out their happily ever after.Ya. I'm cracked lol.
. 115 pages usually too short for me, but this author knows how to work a shorter format and I've enjoyed some of her other stuff. This book felt longer than it was.
Tina I totally agree with you about Heather Long. I've read her Military Romances and I have thoroughly enjoyed them.
I am about to start
Apparently it features a dark skin heroine with a shaved head. It's set in a post-apocalyptic world. $3.99 for 247 pages. I am excited.

I was also confused when I saw some people posting pictures of the characters in the review who were definitely not dark skinned nor with a shaved head, but to each his own I guess.

I was also confused when I saw some people posting pictures of the characters in the review who were definitely not dark skinned nor with a shaved head, but to each his own I guess. Not Lupita. But definitely a darker skinned woman with a shaved head. Still trying to process how I feel about the book. I really liked the heroine and kind of thought she deserved better than the hero.
I started reading it ...but I don't know. I might have to DNF. It's not the writing, it's the hero. I am not a fan of this kind of hero, nor certain sorts of themes and situations in my romances. Just not my cuppa. I usually like Eve Vaughn, so I don't regret the purchase but its not for me. I did find the review pics odd too, esp. because its obvious she's dark skinned with a shaved head. Wonderfully drawn heroine.

I'm reading it now....he is a jerk. I don't mind though, this type of hero is a norm for me since I started reading romance novels from the 70's and 80's.
That's it. And that so far, he's just a jerk."@mrsbookmark I completely agree, he was a complete jerk which was a let down for me considering how much I liked the heroine. She was wonderfully drawn and I just did not get the attraction. I found him to be abusive even and that is not something that I find to be romantic.
Savannah- Quad Motherin' Book Readin' Diva wrote: "I have learned my lesson with any type of slavery/oppression romance trope. I just can't...."This is what bothered me now that you said it. I was uncomfortable with the manner in which the hero forced his way into the heroine's life. I don't mind a persistent hero but this felt extremely oppressive to me.
I started in the 90's when all heroes were a-holes out of touch with there feelings and clueless until the heroine a.) had a brush with death or b..) left for parts unknown after taking 9 miles of his sh*t 95% of the book lol. I can do jackass. But the entire issue of total powerlessness and ownership is a turn off for me and just puts me in the mind of what REAL women went through. I cant mentally let go enough to romanticize it. I get it that some can and hey- to each their own! I like a lot of crap that others probably consider anti feminist at the very least. We all have different romantic lines.
I just finished reading this
by Sharon Cullars. I liked it but it was a little more expensive than I like to spend for 180pgs. However, I tend to like this author so I bought it and it was a solid read for me.
I just finished
... I loved it!! Strong heroine, dirty-talking hero, action/suspense/thriller plot. I don't often gush, but I really enjoyed it! :)

"Her hair was shiny, black, long, hanging on her shoulders and it stopped at her elbows."
Seriously, this year as far as BW/WM IR's go has been either hit or miss...mostly a LOT of misses. The colorism/eye/hair fail is just out of whack. And I love kick-ass heroines. Oh well, I could always re-read
and
.

She's definitely of a lighter complexion.
But it's so rare to find really bad-ass heroines in IR... she's basically a heartless killer for most of the book. Her HBIC characteristics intrigued me. And as soon as Ben started with the dirty-talk, I was hooked. I don't get geeked over many books, but this one had everything I really like. Also, she was never described as chocolate, caramel, mocha or anything like that.
Also, her eyes weren't hazel... LOL
I will check those other books out though!
Just finished
which was good until the ending which could have been waaaay better, and now I'm about to start
I always go back and forth reading four or more books at one time. At this very moment I'm reading Complicated Love by Iris Deorre and so far it is really good. I had it in my Kindle for a minute so decided to start reading it while having tea this morning and haven't stopped.
Currently re-reading 'Substitute Me." Not straight up IR in that that's what the books is ALL about, but the protag *does* end up with an interracial boo (after a whole lot of drama!)
Kim wrote: "I read Substitute Me last year. Fantastic novel! I hope Lori Tharps releases a new novel soon! :)"Me too! I know she's been focusing on non-fiction, but I hope she writes another novel soon.
A-W wrote: "I'm currently reading Incarcerated by Inger Iversen. It is a really good book."Amazing story! Sweet love story and Logan/Katie's first meeting. ...super steamy!!!!! Hope you enjoy!
