yesterday. Really enjoyed it. Wished it had an epilogue tho. And certain parts dragged on for me but overall a good read.

I am reading His Woman by Sam Crescent. I just finished Mistaken Identities by Tressie Lockwood and Dahlia Rose, I really enjoyed it.
I just finished
and wow. Wow. Well written, wonderful characterization and an awesome alpha male. It's the only book by the author so far, but so far, anything else that's released by Linden Hughes might just be an instant buy for me.

I said the same thing over in the What Turns You OFF thread. Drives. Me. IN.sane. lol
I'm a dark sista and at best, with my winter color, if I blow my nose a lot the end turns a lil red. I am not walking around blushing and I do not care if I found out my draws were showing on pew #3 in the sanctuary. Its just not physiologically possible.
I'm on my second story of the
box set. Now, I'm going to go out on a limb and say what I guessed prior to cracking it open. Mynx's Rallenti will be the best one. It was excellent other than the fact that I didn't like the heroine much (which is nothing against the writing) and it was too short. However, what amounts to a Battaglia novella from Mynx is more than some full sized books by other authors deliver. They started the set with that one as the first book and frankly, that was probably a mistake since I have have zero shame in lauding her and Pace as the best authors of the bunch. The others WILL suffer by comparison as far as I'm concerned. I'm skipping around now because of that LOL. Went straight to Pace's Everything Is Everything after finishing Mynx. I am finding it as expected- extremely well written but a TON of backstory before you get to the romance. Sometimes that works for me, sometimes not so much. But again, I expect it with this author and it definitely doesn't detract from my props to her. Started in on Aliyah Burke's and was already picking up on some of the things I dislike about her style, so moving on for now. I will go back and read the others. Just in the mood for more of what I consider the stylings of the two "top shelf" contributors.I won't be reading Nelson's contribution due to my post Closet vow. lol
Oh my goodness Savannah you crack me up! FYI, my slip did fall off, literally, walking down the aisle at church when I was 15. I didn't turn red, but I almost fainted from embarrassment as my younger sister picked it up for me after I stepped out of it and loudly said "Here you go!"
haha! Oooh bless your heart! Hey, at least you didnt have to bend over and pick it up yourself. She had your back lol!
I just started reading Tempt Me by Melissa Schroeder, and From Across the Divide by K. Victoria Chase. I love reading Military Romance and Melissa Schroeder is one of my favorite go to authors for a good Military read. I also love to reading Historic IR and I'm always looking for good story to from that genre to read.
A-W, I'm assuming Tempt Me is IR? I get why authors don't make it obvious since there is still a contingent of idiots that immediately think they won't be able to "relate" to a story black heroine. So I get it, and her covers are ultra hot with the men folk. Just hard to discern if you're specifically looking for an IR read.
Just bought that Scandalous Heroes boxed set. It looks great. With my luck, it will cost a lot more than a dollar after I find a bunch of new authors to glom.
@Savannah not all of Melissa Schroeder's Military series are IR buy Tempt Me and a few more in hers are. The first book I read by her was an IR read from her A Little Harmless series about a team of Navy Seals and I've been reading her books ever since.

I just bought the Scandalous Heroes Box Set: Sensul Romance albeit somewhat reluctantly considering the massive colorism I've come across. Still, I love Bridget Midway and was impressed by the one Erosa Knowles book I read. And I keep hearing good things about Sienna Mynx's mafia stories so we'll see. But for every "caramel colored light-eyed" heroine I will be deducting serious points. I am so DONE with that fuckwittery. Pardon my French, but I'm keeping it honest.
Thanks A-W. Starting with Infatuation to get my feet wet. So far so good though I had to force down my initial reaction to the heroine's green eyes. She's biracial so I'm ok. lolFPD I so feel you.
. Steampunk. Heroine is biracial (BW). This is a third book in the series, the other two are not IR but I liked them.

I just bought this
. Look at that COVER! And it's like totally medieval. Best yet, no colorism-fail yay! Mayhaps my faith is being slowly restored.https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
FPD that IS a mighty nice cover! Now watch the story describe her as blushing with flashing green eyes.lmao!

I've been eyeballing this one myself, but I've been leery about it. I'll be interested in hearing what you think about it.

Elise Marion is a darn good author. She writes kick-ass adventurous heroines and well, that's one of my happy buttons.

That right there is an effective cover. It isn't one I've seen 1,000 times before, it is well conceived and more importantly it makes me stop and want to know more about a book. I can't tell you how many books, esp IR I have passed over just because of the stock covers. At this point they've become like visual white noise, they are so prevalent, you start to ignore them.
Imma have to get this...

Keep hope alive Savannah! LOL

According to the sample I read:
The good news is: No her eyes are not green
The semi-bad news is: They are the color of chestnuts.
So we do get 'Food' coloring, but at least it is a new food... I don't think I've read anyone described with chestnuts before. And Hey at least she isn't a 'mocha beauty' LOL.
For real, tho, the sample was pretty good. I may really have to get this.

. This is a YA IR romance. This was very good. Carter and Kira were soo cute and the writing was wonderful. Very clean. No sex. So not normally my thing, but this was a good one.Reading currently
. The porny, constant sex is a real turn off. And Honestly, teenagers Carter and Kira from Freeing Carter acted more mature than the heroine Lacey in this book.
@Tina I totally agree with you about the constant sex and the level of maturity or lack there of with the heroine. Then her constant use of the "P" word was a huge turnoff for me and the "F" word was thrown around so much by both the hero and heroine. Another thing I strongly dislike in IR stories BW/WM if there is another woman in the story seen as competition who is white the heroine is somehow intimidated by her and unsure of herself or thinks that she is a better choice because she's white. However I liked the hero for the most part.
@A-W: I ended up skimming the last 40% of the book. My review will go up sometime today. But yeah, the hero was the only redeemable part of the book. Big disappointment because I think there was a potentially interesting book underneath it all.
@Tina I totally agree. I just finished reading From Across the Divide by K. Victoria Chase and now i just began reading Tempt Me by Melissa Schroeder so far I am enjoying it. Next I will read Afterwards by Nia Forrester and then I'll start on Scandalous Heroes.
So, I read
. I thought this was pretty interesting take on two people falling in love that come from different mythical races. I think my only problem with this book was there wasn't enough story.I read
and even though it started out pretty good, it just never went anywhere. I skimmed the last 25-30% of the book just to finish it and even before that I just started to skip the sex scenes.I also just finished
I thought it was decent. Not the best book I've ever read, but something was just off with the story and the love connection.
I finished up Primal by Kassanna book two of the Pride Riders series the first book of the series Pride is a free read on amazon. I really like the this series so far can't wait to read the third book when it's released.
