message 202: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Kennedy (laurenxo) Would it count for vampires if I'm reading a short story collection and one or two of the stories have vampires in it?

Abi (abi_gr) | 27659 comments Lauren wrote: "Would it count for vampires if I'm reading a short story collection and one or two of the stories have vampires in it?"

It wouldn't count, sorry. :( Each book has to be over 100 pages to count, and even though the collection probably is, if there's only 1 / 2 short stories about vampires, it wouldn't be enough to count as a vampire book. (As vampires would have to be the main focus to count.)

message 205: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Kennedy (laurenxo) Ok thank you :)

message 206: by Abi (new)

Abi (abi_gr) | 27659 comments If it was published in 2013, you could use it for that block. :)

Elizabeth Emily Browne (snakesandladderrs) | 2186 comments I'm struggling to find one for the published in 2013 box x

message 208: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Kennedy (laurenxo) Unfortunately it wasn't, it was published in the 1970's or 80's I think but I can use it for the over 350 pages block :)

Abi (abi_gr) | 27659 comments Elizabeth wrote: "I'm struggling to find one for the published in 2013 box x"

Have you bought / borrowed any sequels lately that you haven't read? There was a whole load of sequels that came out for well known series last year. :)

message 210: by Elizabeth Emily (new)

Elizabeth Emily Browne (snakesandladderrs) | 2186 comments I'm not sure I might have to google it and see what I can come up with:) x

message 211: by Abi (new)

Abi (abi_gr) | 27659 comments It tells you what year a book was published in, on the books page, under the blurb. :)

message 213: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 15946 comments So can I use A Need So Beautiful (A Need So Beautiful, #1) by Suzanne Young for mythology considering she is an Angel? Or would that be paranormal?

message 214: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 15946 comments One mor equestion. Can I use I Heart You, You Haunt Me by Lisa Schroeder for couples?

message 215: by Rachmi (new)

Rachmi | 4882 comments @Courtney: I think Angel story is paranormal not mythology.

Rachmi is right ☺ A need so beautiful would be paranormal/fantasy, not mythology. The lists that Rachmi has posted should be helpful though ☺ I know I'd have trouble thinking of any of the top of my head, the only one i remember is the goddess test.

I heart you, you haunt me should be fine ☺

message 218: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 15946 comments Okay I think for mythology (if I get that far haha) I will read Antigoddess (Goddess War, #1) by Kendare Blake or The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #1) by Rick Riordan

message 219: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 15946 comments Thanks Rachmi and Sarah :)

message 221: by Rachmi (new)

Rachmi | 4882 comments @Courtney, have you read Covenant series by Jennifer L. Armentrout? I think I'm going to use Pure (Covenant, #2) by Jennifer L. Armentrout for mythology block.

Abi (abi_gr) | 27659 comments Rachel wrote: "This May (Conspiracy 365 #5) by Gabrielle Lord is okay for purple cover right? :)"

Sorry, it wouldn't. :( There's more black on it than purple.
It would count as "number in title" though. :)

message 227: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 15946 comments Would Wake (Dream Catcher, #1) by Lisa McMann be a purple cover? I cant tell if the sheets are purple or not.

Abi (abi_gr) | 27659 comments Courtney wrote: "Would Wake (Dream Catcher, #1) by Lisa McMannbe a purple cover? I cant tell if the sheets are purple or not."

Sorry, it wouldn't count. :( For a cover to count, the color has to be on the majority of it (so about 60%) that one is mainly black.

message 229: by Abi (last edited Jan 10, 2014 02:06AM) (new)

Abi (abi_gr) | 27659 comments You could use it for "first in series" :)

message 230: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 15946 comments That was my first choice lol Im was just hoping it would work fro purple cover because Im having a hard time finding one im interested in reading.

message 231: by Abi (last edited Jan 10, 2014 02:09AM) (new)

Abi (abi_gr) | 27659 comments Sarah just pointed out to me that there's a foreign cover that's more purple: Sen (Sen, #1) by Lisa McMann i'd count that. :)

message 232: by Courtney (new)

Okay. I might have found another cover. Gilda Joyce The Ladies of the Lake (Gilda Joyce, #2) by Jennifer Allison or Glass (Crank, #2) by Ellen Hopkins should work as well correct?

message 238: by Abi (new)

Abi (abi_gr) | 27659 comments Glass would count, but the other one wouldn't, since it's all blue, pink, purple mixed into one.

message 239: by rachel, x (new)

rachel, x (typedtruths) | 8401 comments @Courtney Okay, well if you need a purple cover. I CAN read Gilda Joyce with you because I need one too now. :)

Courtney | 15946 comments so will a Catholic Girls school count as a boarding school? I'm not so sure what a boarding school is so I wanted to ask first.

if you want a book with a boarding school in it A Separate Peace by John Knowles the two main characters go to a boarding school

message 247: by rachel, x (new)

rachel, x (typedtruths) | 8401 comments @Courtney A boarding school is one of those English schools where the students live at the school they go to.

a boarding school is a school where students also live. Their parents send them to a boarding school, and they live, eat, sleep, and go to school all in the same place, and then go home for the holidays. so for example - Hogwarts, is a boarding school because the students live there.
books with boarding schools include - Night School (Night School, #1) by C.J. Daugherty The Holders (Holders, #1) by Julianna Scott " St Trinian's " by Pippa Le Quesne First Term at Malory Towers (Malory Towers, #1) by Enid Blyton Breathless by Jessica Warman Private (Private, #1) by Kate Brian Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter, #1) by J.K. Rowling Marked (House of Night, #1) by P.C. Cast Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy, #1) by Richelle Mead Bloodlines (Bloodlines, #1) by Richelle Mead Evernight (Evernight, #1) by Claudia Gray Uglies (Uglies, #1) by Scott Westerfeld The Name of the Star (Shades of London, #1) by Maureen Johnson
