Lonely Reader I personally think he could be a great man but I just honestly want to know your opinions.
What do you guys think?

Sierra Franklin I think he would make a great man as well but I don't think he would make a great boyfriend/husband....based on his actions so far.

Wren i feel like he is sort of possessive

Miss Escapades I think he's a little bit sexist. I mean what is with the whole "I'm supposed to earn money, not you!" Thing he's got going on. And then barging into the palace and putting her in danger hints that he's rash and impulsive. But the fact that he sacrifices everything for his family shows he can be selfless and he clearly loves America which is something. I'm more inclined to dislike him, though, not quite sure why.

Ilana i don't know if it's sexist exactly vs. more old school. i think that he grew up in a caste that left him with the expectation that it's how life was - that the man was supposed to provide if not provide more and that the woman would work but keep the home and raise the children. with that attitude though, it made him do things that were prideful and really quite negative. think about the implication that he made at America's going away - where he was with the other girl. even though it was mis-read by her, i think the intention was there by him. i don't enjoy him, didn't then and don't now

Hannah yah even though his whole i'm supposed to earn the money thing is stupid i can see why he would feel that way. but i think he is being a complete idiot about sneaking in to see america in the palace because they could both be killed for it and if he really cared about her he wouldn't put her in danger like that its really stupid of him. my opinion he loves her but he is a complete idiot and is too careless with america's life. maxon would do anything to protect her and aspen doesn't seem to be very considerate of the danger he is putting her in.

Elizabeth I had a problem with the "I'm the man, I must provide" attitude as well. But if you look at what happens with the castes when a girl marries (she takes on the man's number), it's clear that's how the society thinks. So it's not entirely his fault.

...but I would still rather see her end up with Maxon.

gina I SO AGREE WITH U

It's still sexist.

And the fact that we have to guess what Aspen's personality is like is sad. It just goes to show that he doesn't have any real character.
