Action sequences

What fantasies have the best and most action? This can be anything ranging from large battles to one on one fights, with or without the use of magic.

That's tough, but I would say any Michael Moorcock. Elric of Melniboné, Hawkmoon....

Brandon Sanderson writes great action scenes in nearly all of his fiction. Janny Wurts has great examples of nearly non-stop action in To Ride Hell’s Chasm and The Master of White Storm.

My favorite battle scenes are written by Joe Abercrombie.

I'm sure I'm not remembering even a tenth of the ones I need to, but that's what comes to the top of my head right now.

Books that I think have a lot of action....others seem to disagree with.

I, too, forget action...but remember/know that I like or dislike.

Lately I've been really impressed with the action in urban fantasy. Great authors for that are Larry Correia and Ilona Andrews. But I've been dissapointed in traditional fantasy. The night angle trilogy was okay but nothing fantastic.

I just finished Jim Butcher's "Codex Alera" series and it was a blast. Had to lock myself in the bathroom at times so as not to be interrupted during some of the action sequences.

I'm more a fan of Butcher's Harry Dresden. Too bad the television series didn't follow the books a it better but it was pretty good anyway.

Jeremy robinsons The Last Hunter - series is so packed with action I have a difficult time finding places to stop.. Sometimes I just read all night..

I've enjoyed Ilona Andrews and Larry Correia's action scenes a lot, too.

Agree with this one, only discovered the mistborn trilogy late last year, and loved it. For me Terry Goodkind writes great action scenes too.

Yeah I'm working on the Mistoborn trilogy (on the last one) and there are some good one on one action scenes. I agree, I think my favorite large battle scene is in Stone of Tears.

Long time since I read Stone of Tears, Jake, but I loved the sword of truth series as a whole.

Wizard's First Rule was my first ever fantasy novel and the first three in the series were incredible but the latter half of the series really went down hill, very sad.
