Myta (mytsanti) | 56 comments I'm looking for Asian and European HF but when I Google there are no new leads. Can anyone recommend? Possibly within the last five years. Thanks!

Susan (susanconder) The first thing that came to mind for Asian HF is Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See. She also has other books set in China, but I haven't read those.

One of my favorite books is The Book of Salt. It's a weird but interesting novel set in 1920s Paris featuring the Vietnamese cook to Gertruide Stein and Alice B. Toklas. And it meets both your criteria - European and Asian.

I will try to think of some more.

Thanks Susan! I hope our local bookstores have them :D

Tony Brooks Myta, I am a migrant from England living in South Australia, and since Australia is geographically part of Asia I feel my HF novels set mainly in Australia should fall within your field of interest. Go to xynobooks.com for all three - soon to be four of the books.

Tony Brooks

Joseph (bluemanticore) | 89 comments from the last five years, I recommend these five-star books:
Alice I Have Been by Melanie Benjamin
Corrag by Susan Fletcher
The Woman Who Heard Color by Kelly Jones

Tony Brooks Joseph, I would love to have your views on my novel, 'Halfway Human', set mainly on Norfolk Island and e-published by xynobooks.com

Kate Quinn | 494 comments Jeannie Lin is another author to recommend. Her works are all more in the romance line, but even if romance isn't usually your bag, give these a chance: excellently written and researched tales set in Tang Dynasty China, which happen to have strong romantic plotlines. I recommend The Dragon and the Pearl as a starter.

Myta (mytsanti) | 56 comments I found this book at our local bookstore today. It's The Club Dumas by Arturo Perez-Reverte. My mom was kind enough to buy it for me.

I've seen good reviews of it here but have any of you read it?

I've read it, as well as several of Perez-Reverte's other works. They are all great reads, awesome mysterious adventures. I gave this title as well as The Flanders Panel and The Fencing Master all 5 stars.

News to me that Australia is part of Asia? I know you have strong links but last time I looked it was in Australasia or sometimes classified as Oceania along with New Zealand...

I second The Ghost Bride (especially if you like paranormal fiction!)
