The House of Night series is set in a world very much like our own, except in 16-year-old Zoey Redbird's world, vampyres have always existed. Chpt 10: (view spoiler)[ Didn't like Zoey's stepfather at all. Beautiful uber-popular Aphrodite mean girl was too cliche. Initial scene in the hallway was very awkward and a bit too graphic for my taste. This is like Gossip Girl attending the Vampire Academy without the dhampirs. (hide spoiler)]

Hey guys! :) I'm currently rereading this series for about the 5th (?) time. I know it is not very well written and has a lot of issues but I just can't help loving the world building and certain characters just really stick out to me (especially if you get into the later books).

I'm doing an extensive review every 5 chapters on my blog, I'll stick a link in there once I'm done with the first one :)

Anyway I'm hoping that people will see why I just love these books despite the (many) flaws :3 currently on chapter 6 :)

I LOVE the Cherokee aspect of this book. :) It was so nice seeing it mixed into the more modern culture as well as a completely different view of vampires that anyone has ever written about :)

Have you ever read Kalona's Fall? (It's a novella, and you can read it seperately to any of the books, but I suppose it kinda spoils the main villain that comes into play in the fourth book)

Chpt 20: (view spoiler)[ Zoey has an affinity to 5 elements when they make a circle. Aphrodite is such a mean girl. Eric's ability to orate. Cool a nerdy speech boy who is a superstar because of it. Nala ~ Zoey's new cat familiar.

I liked this ending, but I was very underwhelmed by most of the book. And the vampire religious ceremonies really put me off.

I like that Eric is a hot popular orator and I love the Scooby gang, but I am just not thrilled with Zoey and the rest. I might listen to another book at some point and then pass final judgement. (hide spoiler)]

Also, it seemed like the authors incorporated Greek mythology in the book, there was a lot of Greek god and goddess names. And the language was kind of explicit for a YA novel, I noticed from like chapter 4. I guess they ended dull so Zoey could get used to her powers while a new conflict arises. (hide spoiler)]
