Rosanna Leo (rosanna_leo) LOL, funny idea for a thread!
Okay, here's one that always makes me giggle, even though I totally give props to Cherry Adair for being awesome. The h/h from Afterglow (Lodestone, #2) by Cherry Adair are named Rand and Dakota.
I'm sorry. I don't know anyone with these names. Perhaps if one of them had a normal name, I wouldn't feel the same way. Like Ted and Dakota. Or Rand and Mildred.

OK, maybe not Rand and Mildred....

Kyoko M. (kyokominamino) | 57 comments I can only be specific with one of my examples. I personally hated the name "Anastasia Steele" from 50 Shades of Grey. It just drips with pretentiousness.

Secondly, sometimes if I'm stuck at Walmart and I'm bored, I'll read awful Harlequin romance novels for funsies, and one time I found a male love interest whose name (or nickname) was Rowdy. Of course, I immediately thought about the stuffed dog JD and Turk from Scrubs had so I was laughing heartily through the entire reading session. Just thought I'd share that.

Courtney Wells | 41 comments I get annoyed when authors lack consistency in naming siblings. Like "Ever and Riley" or "Haven and Christina". It's like the protagonist gets the flashy one and brat sib gets the dull.

message 5: by L.L. (new)

L.L. Watkin (LLWatkin) | 41 comments I read a paranormal romance lately where the protagonist is called Grateful. Grateful Knight the nurse. Seriously, there's even a throwaway "yeah, it's a stupid name" line, even the author knew is was dumb.

My worst ever though has to me Reneesme. That's just a made up bunch of syllables people!

Oh, God in Heaven. How I hated Reneesme. What a stretch that one was!

message 7: by Heather (new)

Heather Heffner | 89 comments hahaha on the "Anastasia Steele," and ohhh good lord Reneesme bugged the heck out of me. I really hated the name "Mac" for the heroine of Karen Marie Moning's Darkfever series, mostly because she shortened her name to it from Mackayla and started pretending like she was such a bada**, naming random things after herself, like the "MacHalo." Goodness, are you a person or a computer software company?
