I mean it's definitely worth a go because most people love it--for me, the concept is really great and intriguing but the portrayal isn't too great, moreso for the last book.

I believe Sylvia Louise Engdahl's Children of the Star trilogy should be much more recognized for the groundbreaking achievement they were (and continue to be) in the field of YA science fiction. The trilogy is comprised of This Star Shall Abide, Beyond the Tomorrow Mountains and The Doors of the Universe.

Daughter of Smoke & Bone...the synopsis does not do it justice at all, I ignored it for awhile because it didn't interest me, but I just gave the audiobook a chance and was completely enthralled
