Empress (the_empress) Does that date refer to the book or the story. The earliest edition of the story I can find is 1972 and that is in official records (unlike Wiki).

Oh Sorry. I see it is changed to 1972. Thanks

Deedee | 79 comments Which original publication date is the correct one for A Princess of Mars? Several sites, including http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barsoom, state:
"The first Barsoom tale was serialized as Under the Moons of Mars in 1912, and published as a novel as A Princess of Mars in 1917. " Thanks.

Deedee | 79 comments Which original publication date is the correct one for The Martian? My hardback copy says "2014"; so does the amazon site http://www.amazon.com/The-Martian-Nov... . But, whenever I change the publication date to 2014, another librarian changes it to 2012. The reason the date matters is later this year, when eligibility is determined for the 2014 Goodreads Choice Awards.

Z-squared | 8575 comments re 7, if I'm looking at the logs correctly, the book was published in 2012 online, at least by GR standards. However, I don't know how the format of publication applies to valid entries for the Goodreads Choice Awards. I'd contact support directly to ask.

It gets confusing when a thread linked to a specific book or author is also used for other books. I am closing this thread. Start new ones for other books.
