Serendi We used to have a cookbook with a recipe for divinity fudge that was really great. (I never succeeded in making it, but my brother excelled at it.) Every Christmas we get a commercial divinity fudge for our family party and bemoan the loss of the recipe from 50 years ago.

The book was small, shaped about like this book:

Clutter Control Putting Your Home on a Diet by Jeff Campbell

(if this picture were rotated 90 degrees clockwise) with a fairly plain cover (possibly a cartoonish baker with baker's hat?). I keep thinking it said Busy Baker on it somewhere. Just looked under Busy Bee also and found one of around the right era, but it had the wrong shape and cover.

Anyone recognize it? Thanks!!

ETA: It has just occurred to me to wonder if I'm wrong about what book had the recipe. Still, I KNOW that book existed. Gonna bug some relatives.

ETA2: My mom confirms that it was in a book shaped like a third of an 8-1/2 x 11 page. She says it was in hardcover. She moaned just thinking about how much better the divinity fudge was. ;-)

Sophie (notemily) | 477 comments Well, Busy Baker does appear to be a brand of crackers, complete with cartoon baker on the logo. I can't find any books with that name, though.

Serendi I have a theory that when we solve it ourselves right after we post, we needed to post to get the process kickstarted.

One of my sisters remembered. It's Jolly Times Cookbook, from 1934, by Marjorie Noble Osborn. It doesn't appear to be in Goodreads, but there are copies on ebay.

Whee!!!

ETA: The "cover" I described is actually the first page; we'd lost the cover somewhere along the way...
