I agree about the hair but that can easily be fixed in a movie.And you are not alone-I also picture Gwen as Esmerelda.Meagan Goode was the only actress I felt was most like her

The first movie in the theft of swords.As we know Theft of swords is actually 2 books in one Crown conspiracy and Avempartha. The movie will therefore have to merge this books into one cohesive storyline.
Heres my idea on how to do it-

In Crown conspircay,Riyria was framed for the muder of the king.For the movie however make it that Riyria was not only framed for the murder of the king but also freeing the monster known as the Gilbraythwn.

By doing this you can have all the important events from crown conspiracy(Freeing Esra in order to clear their name,stopping the ursuper Braga etc)running together with the important events from Avempartha(quest to Avempartha,Church plot to creake a fake emperor etc)in one cohesive plot.Make it that Braga is the churchs choice for fake emperor for better sychronicity between the plots.It explains why Braga wld free the Gilbrahywn

I would vote for two seperate movies. I think the stories are dense enough to flush out 2+ hours from each book.

I dont know.The books arent that long and they scream episodes to me not movies(with the exception of crown conspiracy and maybe emerald storm).If they want movie they are gonna merge.I also dont think its realistic we would get 6 movies for the series.

Depicting the World of elan and its Races
To make the world more visually compelling on screen.I vote for a few tweaks.
1.Victorian architecture.I think they should potray the architecture as being victorian in visuals instead of Medieval as it will help it stand out visually from other medieval fanatsy like LOTR.

2.It goes without saying that the design of dwarves,elves and goblins wld have to be different from LOTR

I love the suggestions! I will say that there has been some recent "nibbles" on the movie/tv series front. I'm not holding my breath, but it's at least more promising than I've seen in the past.

IMHO, that's way too much to hope for, unfortunately. And, if somehow miraculously it happens some day, I sure hope they hire some better writers than Benioff and Weiss to adapt it. Those two are great producers, and good showrunners in general, but poor writers, and yet arrogant in their approach to adapting novels.

@DavidO - I doubt HBO would want to do two fantasy series. But no it wasn't with them. I really don't want to say much at this point.

@Christomir - unfortunately the original author generally has little to no say in the screenplay adaptation - unless they are selling multiple millions - which I don't ;-(

Well, GRRM does sell multiple millions, and yet he doesn't seem to have much say in the screenplay adaptation of ASoIaF these days (despite being listed as an "Executive producer" on the series :/), seeing how Benioff and Weiss have butchered his books lately.

Basically, this is what happens - they make some small change from the source material (very often - a needless one, "just because they can"), without considering what it will lead to later. Then naturally, as the story arcs unfold, that small change often leads to a need for bigger changes to account for it and to keep things logical and plausible. And then what happens most often is that those bigger changes lead them into a "dead end", where whatever they come up with will be contrived and won't make sense, simply because they have "broken" the logic of the story and, unless they are some sort of genius writers (which they are far from), there is simply nothing they could possibly write that would restore that logic and get everything to fit and make sense again.

And what is worse - on a lot of those occasions they don't seem to worry, or care (or even - realize) that they've broken it and what they have just shown on TV simply doesn't fit together at all with earlier characterizations and plot developments! Instead, in interviews and "Inside the episode" clips, they seem cocky and confident that they are writing some sort of a masterpiece, on par with GRRM's books, and there are no plot holes or implausibilities in their version of the story. They act and speak like everything is easily explained and they don't need to pay attention to fans that complain. They are just happy that "the casual viewers" are buying it, because they assume those casual viewers are too stupid to notice the story is broken, and consequently the show is making a profit. And profit is the most important thing, eh? So they don't mind dumbing it down and going for cheep shock value, instead of being careful that each storyline and each scene makes perfect sense.

And please note - I'm not a book purist. I don't mind big changes in a screen adaptation, as long as the logic of the story and the personalities of the characters are kept similar to how they are in the source material, or at least - earlier in the series. But Benioff and Weiss don't seem to even understand some of GRRM's characters and their motivations, so how could they keep it consistent, even if they cared?

I sincerely hope that something like this will never happen to any of your books! I would prefer them to never be adapted, rather than be adapted by poor writers like Benioff and Weiss. I think GoT is still very good, because those two are great producers (or at least one of them is) and they have a big budget to make it work, but they are really bad at writing.
